This book is the most informative of all 6 I was required to buy for physical assessment. It gives a list of differentials and tests for each. Helps to rule out each differential based on their body system.

This was not a required book but I kept noticing that my professor kept referencing this book so I purchased it. Great resource and use it more than my required text. Well worth the money in my opinion and helped me with completing my SOAP Notes.
 Easy approach to rule out/in conditions.

 Book is missing 32 pages!

I purchased this book in February, 2020 for a course I was supposed to be taking last summer. The course got postponed until now due to Covid and the book has been in its plastic wrap since I received it. I opened the textbook for the first time a few days ago, only to find that it is missing an entire section! Pages 383 to 414 are missing. There is no gap in the binding, indicating that those pages were never included in the first place. (See image above.) I have contacted the publisher, Elsevier, who will do nothing to replace the book as it wasn’t purchased directly from their website. Buyer beware!

Update: I sent the above picture to , and they will be refunding me fully once they receive the book.
I have used previous versions of this book in past, and have found it incredibly useful for my practice. But this version has been a huge disappointment.

 Meaningful Read. Insightful and Eye-Opening.

I loved the conversational style. This book gave me greater compassion for the kid I was and all that I was trying to manage and endure in the environment I came from. It also helped me experience some moments with caregivers differently. Even as a child, I knew that their reactions and behaviors came from things that happened to them before I was born. But it still hurt and affected me. Partly feeling like they should still have been responding to me differently because I was an affectionate, curious, playful, joyful, and compassionate child. But now I see no human child would have gotten out of that environment unscathed.

It also helped me see that just because I know their trauma affected their behaviors, doesn’t mean something is wrong with me for how deeply their neglect and abusive behaviors of me affected me. Thank you for acknowledging how things like fear, or racism, or these things, get passed down and affect the victims of it. And for acknowledging that NO children do not just get over it. The younger they are (including infant) the greater the impact. And that staying with an abusive partner in the childhood years “for the kids” is not actually what’s best for the kids.

Also I loved the blue font. And found it comforting. And found it delineated the conversations nicely.
