I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book!!! I knew after reading the first page it was going to be great! I believe this may be the first book I’ve read by Freida McFadden but it certainly won’t be the last! I highly recommend reading this if you haven’t yet! It’s an amazing psychological thriller with quite a few laughs along the way. My favorite kind of book!! I absolutely LOVED it! Such a very talented author! I can’t wait to read more from her!

Quinn kills her husband & goes on the run. If she hadn’t killed him, he would have killed her. His fingers wrapped tightly around her neck. That was the last straw. She flailed around until she was able to grab the knife on the kitchen counter.

She has no idea where she’s going. She doesn’t have a well thought out plan. An unexpected blizzard forces her off the road. She stops (for the night) at an out-of-the-way roadside motel. It’s the perfect place to hide out. As soon as the police discover the body, they’ll be looking for her.

She needs to get back on the road, but two feet of snow fell during the night & she can’t go anywhere. She’s snowed in until the plow comes. The motel isn’t a safe haven. An Internet search reveals it has quite a dark & disturbing history. Two years ago, a young woman was murdered in her room. They never found out who did it.

Kudos to the author – ALL of my assumptions were wrong! BUT, I did NOT enjoy the huggy-kissy, lovey-dovey aspects of the book. I’m just not a fan of interjecting romance into a thriller.

Some authors have the winning recipe for writing great thrillers. The stories are gripping and keep the reader intrigued and turning pages. The twists when then they come are surprising but not implausible and the pace of revealing information is on point. Freida McFadden remains one of my favourite authors for ticking all these boxes and Do Not Disturb, her latest thriller does not disappoint. Quinn arrives home early and surprises her good-looking, super rich but equally cruel husband who was expecting to meet up with someone else in their home. They get into a physical altercation and she stabs him. Without thinking things through she goes on the run during a very bad snow storm and thus begins a fast, fabulous story. 5 Stars.

A good, quick read

I was tearing through the pages, eager to discover what was happening at the old run down motel of the side of the road. The first 90% of the book was outstanding. The “twist” was so sharp it completely ruined the momentum. There was no buildup, just a sharp smack and then a few pages later and the book is over and you’re left wondering where that turn came from. I wish the author had extended the book about 50 more pages to give the twist and ending a more substantial narrative. A good read overall.

A brief synopsis: After killing her husband, Quinn goes on the run. Attempting to find a good place to lay low she takes shelter in a little hotel off the interstate. She plans to leave the next morning to continue her evasion but little does she know she may have just checked into her own death

My review: I loved this book! I would’ve rated it higher but Quinn wasn’t a very likable character and Claudia wasn’t a very realistic character. I liked all the other characters though. I also wish that they made things a tad more believable. I would get into details but I don’t want to spoil the book. It was also really cool that Rosalie had Multiple Sclerosis because I also have Multiple Sclerosis. I highly recommend this book

This was definitely one of the better novels I’ve read this year. I thought the villain(s) was going to be some goofy supernatural element, but fortunately, they opted for real people with real backstories that actually seemed like they could happen in real life. The emotions each character experiences (and shares through both inner monologue and conversation) seems genuine, and I found myself re-reading passages to really soak it in.

The novel is told from the perspective of several characters, and the author does a great job in showing different sides of everyone. There’s also a lot of jumping back and forth between past and present, and while that can be a bit distracting in keeping the timeline straight, I was actually intrigued by these ‘character histories’, and especially getting to view the exact same series of events through multiple vantage points. I actually found myself going back (to the present time) and re-reading certain sections to see if I missed any clues and whatnot.

Usually I’d do a pros and cons list when I review books, but here, as you can see, it’s almost all pros! Nothing negative really stood out. So yeah, can’t recommend this enough!
