Features of Towards a Digital Health Ecology at the NHS PDF

Towards a Digital Health Ecology at the NHS PDF Healthcare Technology Adoption through the COVID-19 Looking Glass is about technology adoption in the U.K.’s National Health Service (NHS) as told from the inflection point of a disaster. In 2020 the world lived through a disaster of epic proportions, devastating humanity around the globe. It took a microscopic virus to wreak havoc on our healthcare system and force the adoption of technology in a way that had never been seen before. This book tells the story of digital technology take-up in the NHS through the lens of that disaster.

The COVID-19 pandemic is the most significant global health crisis to occur since the advent of digital technologies, ubiquitous data, and widespread use of mobile technologies. This book documents use of technology in the NHS through the lens of the first pandemic shock. This healthcare system, paid for by general taxation and free at the point of demand, was conceived and developed in a firmly analogue world. Created in 1948, the NHS predates the invention of the World Wide Web by some forty years. This is not a book simply about technology, it is a study of the painful process of reengineering a mammoth and byzantine system that was built for a different era.

This book is about more than technology. The digital health sector is a microcosm of the wider healthcare system, through which grand themes of social inequality, public trust, private versus commercial interests, values and beliefs are played out. The sector is a clash of competing discourses: the civic and doing good for society; the market and wealth creation; the industrial creating more efficient and effective systems; the project expressed as innovation and experimentation; lastly the notion of vitality and leading a happier, healthy life. Each of these discourses exists in a state of flux and tension with the other. Oscillating between them, this book is offered as a critique of the role of digital technologies within healthcare. It is an examination of competing interests, approaches, and ideologies. It is a story of system complexity told through analysis and personal stories.

Good Tool for education

The pictures are great. The book is short and to the point. It doesn’t have a lot of frills and unnecessary filler information in it to extend the length of the book. I thought that was great.

It says it is for beginners but a lot of the terms and exercises are for intermediate level. It’s a good book for someone who is moderately athletic and wants to amp up their workouts.

As a personal trainer, I’d recommend this is a tool to educate yourself on the benefits of HIIT but it is not an end all be all book.

An informative study aid with illustrations and descriptions throughout to provide you with a quick and reference guide on orthopaedics and trauma.
Written by a team of experts and predominantly targeted at GPs, GP registrars, junior doctors and study aid for doctors in training.
Scans, images and line drawings which provide guidance on the diagnosis, treatment and management of orthopaedic conditions.
Not being a doctor myself I still found the book interesting and intriguing.

This is a very good quality and well produced resource book intended to help with better understanding the diagnosis, treatment and management of orthopaedic conditions which is perfect for students studying orthopaedics (specific routes or general student doctors/nurses), physiotherapists, sports physicians and other healthcare professionals. Much of this is focused on assessing an orthopedic condition initially and the book is incredibly helpful on that front with tons of diagrams, illustrations, x-rays, scans and photos to support the written text. Through this and the 24 very well laid out and indexed chapters the book is very user friendly and it’s easy to head straight to a specific body part or issue. A brilliant resource for any healthcare professional exposed to musculoskeletal/orthopaedic related disorders.

I really liked this book. I feel that I am more informed about the effects of HIIT on my body and how to properly execute multiple common HIIT moves and what areas of the book it utilizes. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn about how and why HIIT is considered a superior exercise by all those who enjoy it
