LOVE the book But…

I absolutely love the coloring books Camilla d’Errico makes! I have the cute and creepy and the mermaid one so I already knew this was gunna be in this book.. But I don’t understand why put some of the amazing coloring pages right in the crease of the book?? Altogether 11 pages in this book are in the crease feel like I’ll never color them because of that which kinds sucks…. Other than that I love it a lot

Forever a fan; I’ve got all of her coloring books because, they’re just so perfect for working with my favorite medium\technique (soft pastel powder, paint brushes, and acrylic paint for background\details)

The included pictures are pieces I started from this book, they’ve only got one layer of pastel down so far, no sealant (ran out), and acrylic shine spots in the second.
This method is fun because you can be very messy with the pastels (just as easily as you can be precise), soft pastel powder is erasable to a degree (brighter colors and more powder used are more likely to faintly hold etc), and with the acrylic you only have to stay outside\in the lines (plus once it covers all the messiness of the pastel, the piece really cleans up literally and figuratively)

As much as I enjoy this artist’s work, and coloring them, these images are very large for colored pencil. I’ll be condensing them onto other paper in a smaller size. LOVE this book and all this artist produces.

This book is beautiful! Very different to all the books I own . The paper is good quality I’m using inktense and tombow water based markers and glitz glitter glue and none of them have bled through. On the strength of this and the Cute and Creepy book , I have ordered the mermaid one. If anyone thinks they’re too old for manga you’re not! I’m a senior and not a very experienced colourist but with these images I can let my imagination run wild. They’re not too fiddly so great for anyone whose hands are not too steady or suffers from joint stiffness. Equally older kids will love it. Would give 6 stars if I could

Es gibt nicht viele Künstler, deren Malbücher immer dicker werden. Das erste (“Pop Manga Coloring Book: A Surreal Journey Through a Cute, Curious, Bizarre, and Beautiful World”) von Camilla d’Errico hatte noch 73 Ausmalseiten, das zweite (“Pop Manga Mermaids and Other Sea Creatures: A Coloring Book”) wies bereits 75 Ausmalseiten auf und das dritte (“Pop Manga Cute and Creepy Coloring Book”) enthielt 79 Ausmalseiten. Genausoviele, wie das neueste, das nunmehr vierte Malbuch.
79 beidseitig mit Malmotiven bedruckte Seiten. Das Buch ist quadratisch (24,99×24,87cm), das Papier ist weiß, dick und die Struktur ist glatt, nicht jede Buntstiftmarke wird also funktionieren (hier gilt es auszuprobieren, ob ölbasierte oder wasserbasierte oder pastellbasierte Buntstifte oder eine gänzlich andersgeartete Buntstiftart geeignet ist). Bereits auf Seite 2 findet sich eine wunderschöne, ganzseitige Illustration zum Ausmalen (man sollte sie nicht einfach überblättern, denn sie wiederholt sich in der Sektion der Ausmalseiten nicht). Und auf Seite 4 geht’s los mit all dem guten Stoff. Der Zeichenstil zeichnet sich durch einen originellen Mix aus Manga und Chibi gepaart mit humorvollen, teils gruseligen Elementen, aus. Was diese Bilder für mich persönlich zusätzlich so attraktiv macht, ist der skizzenartige Stil, in dem sie daherkommen, mal mehr, mal weniger. Im Vordergrund stehen hier – wie im Titel angekündigt – Drachen und magische Kreaturen, daneben finden sich auch einige Seiten mit Mädels und mädchenartigen Wesen, außerdem der eine oder andere Bursche. Wie auf der Buchrückseite verraten wird, dienten diesmal zahlreiche Mythen, Sagen und Legenden aus aller Welt als Inspiration für Camillas Imaginationen. Ganz offensichtlich starken Einfluss hatte wohl die griechische Mythologie, da findet sich eine Medusa, Pegasus uvm., aber eben in dem ganz eigenen Style der Illustratorin. Die erste und die letzte Seite, warten zusätzlich mit kleinen Zeichnungen auf. Es finden sich einige doppelseitige Sujets.
Buchbindung: Geleimt, was für den Zweck eines Malbuchs nicht die ideale Buch”bindung” darstellt. Zielpublikum: Grundsätzlich ein Malbuch für Erwachsene, aber meines Erachtens durchaus auch schon etwas für Kinder ab 10 (mehr oder weniger). Eltern, die unsicher sind, werden auf YouTube fündig, einfach eines der zahlreichen Review oder Flip-Through Videos auswählen. Schwierigkeitsgrad: Anfänger bis Profi, womit ich meine, dass eigentlich jeder etwas für sich herausholen kann, egal welchen Erfahrungs-/Wissensgrad man in Sachen Erwachsenen-Malbüchern hat.
Fazit: Obwohl ich finde, dass die Künstlerin mit jedem Werk noch ausdrucksstärkere Figuren präsentiert, die ausnahmslos wunderschön sind, beschleicht mich doch immer mehr der Verdacht, dass sie ein “One-Trick-Pony” ist. Ein biiiisschen langweilig wird es dann doch. Sowohl die Kreaturen und Menschen als auch, die Art der Darstellung ist sehr repetitiv. Camilla d’Errico bedient sich kräftig am eigenen Fundus. Das ist nicht der einzige Wermutstropfen, die nach wie vor beidseitig bedruckten Ausmalseiten sind für echte Malbuch-Enthusiasten eigentlich nicht akzeptabel. Die für diese Art von Buch nicht geeignete Buch”bindung” ist in meinen Augen ein weiteres Minus. Nichtsdestotrotz, 3 altbekannte, aber trotzdem schöne Sterne!

C’est un livre feerique. Je l’ai montré à ma petite fille de 8 ans et elle m’a fait un très beau coloriage. Peu importe le niveau de colo, ces colo peuvent être très beaux.
