This novella was a page turner, and I had no idea the twists that awaited me. To say that I loved this book is an understatement. This is not your average Ouija board story. It is so much more. I will be thinking about this one for a long time to come. ~Deb Soward~

It’s a gut-wrencher. It wrung my emotions, made me laugh out loud, and made me gasp when the completely unpredictable twist slapped me without warning. The Writers
Daemon Manx is an award-winning American author who writes horror, suspense, supernatural, and speculative fiction.
He was born on January 16, 1967, shortly after the very first Super Bowl, but never played the game and never had a favorite team.
Daemon has recently been nominated for the 2021 Splatterpunk awards for his debut, Abigail in the best short story category.
In 2021 he received a HAG award for his story The Dead Girl.
He is a member of the Horror Authors Guild (HAG) and has been featured in magazines in both the U.S. and the U.K.
In 1999 Daemon was a contestant on the television game show Wheel of Fortune where he made it to the bonus round and walked away with a fully loaded Chevy Tahoe…pretty amazing, right?
On another unbelievable note, in 1991 Daemon was involved in a motor vehicle accident with Ronald Reagan’s motorcade. He accidentally crashed into the former president’s limousine on a New York City Street shortly after Ron and Nancy had stepped out of the vehicle. No one was injured, except for maybe the pride of the secret security agent who was directing traffic.
Most recently, Daemon has opened his own publishing company and works with fellow authors, Diana Olney and Jack Wells, as well as business associate, Romol Chiossi.
Daemon lives with his sister, author Danielle Manx and their narcoleptic cat, Sydney where the patiently prepare for the apocalypse. There is a good chance they will runout of coffee far too soon.

Deb “finished reading Piece by Piece by Daemon Manx. This novella was so full of heart! Manx knows how to write horror with a heart and he does it well.
This is a Coming of Age story crossed with some supernatural aspects.
Bobby, an 11 year old comes across three girls with a ouija board. As he begins to play with the ouija board he gets a message from a spirit called Mac. The message is the exact year he is going to die. As life goes on, Bobby grows up and starts his own family, while that message plays in the back of his mind. To tell you more would be too much, as it would spoil the experience of reading this story.
This novella was a page turner. Between the mystery and build up I needed to find out what was going to happen to Bobby. I had no idea the twists that awaited me. Piece by Piece is such a fitting title because this story literally comes together like a puzzle. To say that I loved this story is an understatement. This is not your average ouija board story. It is so much more. I will be thinking about this one for a long time to come.
In the next story, The Widower, Manx combines grief horror with a creature feature. There are many metaphors that touch upon real life fears and what impact diseases such as cancer have on people. This one hit home as I am a cancer survivor myself.
There are two authors that come to mind if I were to describe Manx writing style. Manx writes from the heart like Chad Lutzke and delivers weird speculative dark fiction like Kealan Patrick Burke. Both authors are my favorites. I think we are going to see great things in Manx future in writing. 5 out of 5 shining stars for this gem.”
Willow “I was not expecting the type of book one might expect when they see a title like “Piece by Piece” – you see Ouija imagery with a bit of blood on the cover, and with me personally, the title “Piece by Piece” immediately makes me think of the music of Slayer and whatever gory imagery pairs with it. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find a story with heart, passion, and a meaningful message (NOTE: I’m well aware that gorefests can have all these qualities as well. Calm down!). We start out in the year 1988 (the same year yours truly was born), with 11-year-old Bobby being visited by three mysterious young women who have a message for him, delivered by a spirit through the Ouija board. Nothing fancy, just being informed that he’s gonna die in his forties, standard procedure. What follows is a heart-warming story of how Bobby chooses to spend the rest of his life, and how the spirit always sort of stuck around to fill in more clues along the way. I was touched by the moments Bobby had with his family, and how aware he was of the meaning behind each moment, which made me cry all the more once I reached the end. I’m not kidding – this story was very sweet, and was exactly what I needed to be reminded of the beauty behind humanity. As a bonus, we also get a non-related tale called “The Widower”, which is a perfect allegory for crippling depression (you’ll have to read it to see what I mean). I highly recommend “Piece by Piece” by Daemon Manx to any genre reader, and to those who might usually shy away from tales of the macabre.”
