It’s A Good Start for Beginners but Needs More Depth to Actually Implement

The book covered the topics well and tried to minimize the math, however, while that was prpbably intentional to help people who aren’t interested in those details, more math and some diagrams shown would have been very helpful in my opinion. I thought some of the battery information was confusing on DOD vs Cycle Life and Lithium Ion was covered as one battery chemistry, when it is several battery chemistries including LiFePO4 and Li Ion Cobalt. Overall, it is a decent book for beginners but be aware that the information provided is just as the book advertises – for beginners. When it comes to actually implementing a system, be sure and seek the advice of an experienced person, do all the math, and study the spec sheets.

This book is a nifty guide and is best for people looking to use solar power for their off grid home. Also great for those who are looking to go off-grid. Can be helpful for those who just want to learn about solar panels. I think it’s quite helpful to me since I was looking to install small solar powered lights on my house so I’m glad someone recommended this to me.

I am far from being an expert on anything to do with solar power or off-grid living; however, I have been looking into my options as I’m planning on building a tiny house or skoolie. I know there are hundreds of YouTube videos available (I’ve watched many), but what I really wanted is a handbook for quick reference and making my own notes.

This book seems to be exactly what I was searching for, and probably then some. Not only does it discuss many options, details about installations, and pros and cons of various equipment, but it also endeavors to teach the whys and wherefores to help me determine exactly the type of system I might need once I’ve figured out what my usage will be. Also, the author has included sections on troubleshooting potential problems and on maintenance.

I’m super excited to re-read and start making my notes to use on my future home!

I found the book to be a simple, yet effective overview of the various solar panels available nowadays, including the means on how to calculate how many you need and some estimated costs. It would be useful to go into more detail or point toward where one might find tax credits. Nevertheless, this is a useful tool.

I know someday I want to get a little property that I can go to and live Off Grid. If this is you too, get this book! Very informative! This is definitely the handbook you want in your hands. The author gives great detail so that it is helpful in using Solar Power for Off Grid living. I would never of known the difference in the types of solar power. I am glad I stumbled upon this book.
