Great for the newcomers for basic language usage.

This is great for someone who never had medical terminology or use the language. A basic studying book.
I think this book is an easier read and you won’t get that feel of being overwhelmed.
I had used another book in the past when I first started back to college and that one had more terminology language in it. Of course that one was for Allied health.

I would avoid using this book company to order textbooks. On my order it was clearly stated that I would be getting a ‘New’ textbook in this order. When I received the book, there were markings, binding issues (to where pages are falling out) and most importantly, there was no access code for the service I needed. I’m very disappointed and not satisfied. I will make sure to never order from this particular group again.

Had to buy this and work though it for a class to test out of it. The book is straight forward starting with the basics and then goes body system by body system to tackle the language of the medical culture. Lot of exercises to get the hang of words, their definitions, how to use them, etc. I never used the audio CD but did use the online tests to help when I was working though the book for extra practice. Plus once you’re done with it, it is a great reference.

I use this book currently with 3 classes. With the book comes a key code which allows you to log onto Medical Language Lab- an online computerized component. It is awesome, and the students really love it. It lets the instructor see each student’s progress and grades. The book is organized by body system and has many colorful illustrations.

I had to get this book for school, but it is one of the better medical terminology books I’ve come across. The book is written in a very easy to understand way! It’s a great book to have as a reference if you are in a healthcare related program.

An very good and comprehensive beginning book medical terminology. It goes by body systems, which is useful It provides self exercises for the students, clear explanations and defintions, and lots of pictures. It also has simple pronunciation guidelines which are easy for the ESL students to understand.
