Reviews From Customers

kINDLE “I got book for a graduate course, would recommend to anyone going into health field while there wasn’t enough space in book I would like further exploration into the different nerve plexus’s in the body explaining the effect on afferent and efferent neurons, perhaps having a better understanding of somatic complaints and thereby limiting prescribing antipsychotics (et al)”

“Given that my previous edition was the 2nd Edition, this 13th addition “caught-me-up” on about 30 years of research and some of the way language has changed. For example, we no longer refer to a junkie as an addict. We have removed both terms: junkie and addict. We now refer to such persons as having a “substance use disorder.” Despite the Federal Agency which uses the term “drug abuse,” political correctness has gone far in trying to eradicate the use of the term; “abuse.” The book features new chapters, new substances and the results of brain site activity and brain and other receptor findings.”

J “This new edition is a great update. The information is as up-to-date as can be expected in our drug influenced culture and well written and helpful enough for any education level regarding the power of drug actions on the nervous systems–including the brain effects with biopsychology implications. I have appreciated how it touches on the social/emotional and cultural implications of each drugs’ use as well. This text has been of great personal help to me as a licensed Substance Abuse Disorder Counselor to understand the question of “Why can’t they just quit?” It has met and exceeded my expectations.”
