Extremely disappointed….

Firstly poor quality control I had pages torn. But that’s not why I’m returning the book. How do you have a recipe for fruit pies, yes Monk Gyatsos famous fruit pies, WITHOUT ANY FRUIT? I’m not sure how these recipes were developed but I don’t think they are even close to their full potential. Sea prunes are an actual ingredient but they are not in the stewed sea prunes stew recipe? Overall I’m extremely disappointed in these recipes. I wish the author would have been more true to form.

I held a big party with a lot of avatar fans. Made around 20 of the dishes in the book. Some of them were really good and some were truly terrible. The sizzle crisps, Aunt Wu’s bean curd puffs, Fire Flakes, Beifong Beef and a few other came out great! The 5 flavor soup was unbearably salty and inedible.

Just based on how the recipes are written and how they turned out. It really feels like the creator of the book did not know much about baking, her ingredients (or lack there of), quantities and timing were all very off.

All that said, the book is really fun to read and I think it provides an excellent starting point for any Avatar fan who wants to eat some food from the show. I will say though, DO NOT BE AFRAID TO DEVIATE FROM THE RECIPE. Take your cooking and baking knowledge and put it to the test. If you think something in the recipe won’t work, then don’t do it. Love it just for the novelty

Has a other review we said, some of the recipes are kind of off, but i understand that the author and alot of us don’t have easy access to things like sea prunes, but no fruits in the fruit pie is weird. But the images are nice, and it doesn’t seem to hard to follow. The little blurbs/ quips before each recipe is nice, and the pictures turned out well. I’m glad she didn’t include Irohs poison tea.
