The Authors
Sally Kuykendall (pronounced “Kirk-en-dahl”) worked as a critical care nurse in Philadelphia and England. Early in her nursing career, she was assigned a patient who was so badly beaten that his facial features were barely recognizable. As she stood and wondered where to start with his care without causing further pain, one question came to mind, ‘How could one human being do this to another human being?’ Kuykendall returned to school earning degrees in the natural and social sciences. MAtaLON “I didn’t read The Housemaid, I inhaled it. Who’s gaslighting whom? I felt like I was inside that Ingrid Bergman movie constantly switching my emotions as McFadden toys with clues that are not readily picked up. But it all comes together in the end. Instead of alternating chapters back and forth between Millie and Nina, she delivers a complete sense of each character and the way she writes it is brilliant. The Housemaid does what many thrillers don’t – presents you with a “I don’t know who I am routing for anymore now.” The book from the very beginning had me invested with loyalty issues as if these are real people. There’s one scene where I started biting my nails and I haven’t done that since I was seven years old. My heart was palpitating with fear as if I suddenly escaped into the book and became that character. Terrified. I won’t tell you who or I’ll spoil it for you. There are twists galore-so many and then Freida McFadden does what she does best- she leaves the best for last –yes up until that very last line, be on your toes and keep the lights on. 5 stars+”
BOOP “OMG!!!!!! WOW, WOW, WOW!!!! This story had it all. I did not want to put it down and now that I’m finished with it I want to read it again. This is one of Frieda’s best books yet and that is saying something because all of them are amazing. This one blew my mind. I love her writing style and the way she ratchets up the tension by keeping you guessing and then second guessing what you guessed and then finding out you were wrong about everything you thought you knew. Lol. If you have to choose one psychological suspense to read this year this is it!!!! It is hands down the best book I have read in a long time and that is saying something because I read all the time. Bravo Frieda McFadden you have outdone yourself.”

I have just a few very favorite authors and Frieda McFadden is in the top two. But this book may have pushed her to number one. I love all of this author’s books. When I hear that a new book written by her is coming out,I wait patiently until release day and I snap it up the same day. This book is my new favorite of hers. It was just so good! The sequence of events just floored me and I absolutely couldn’t put it down. Everything I thought I knew as I was reading was proven wrong. VERY WRONG! I am positive that you will not see that twist coming. Buy this book! And if you haven’t read her other books GET THEM NOW! After you read this book you’re going to binge read her other books because you will realize she is soon to be one of your top two very favorite authors. Without a doubt!”
