When I was doing my undergraduate work back in the day it was APA4. When I was earning my first master’s degree it was APA6. Now, I am going to get a second master’s degree and it is APA7. Who knows what it will be when I get my Ph.D. This book has a great index so it is easy to look up specific scenarios quickly. It is a handy guide.

If you’ve been trying to decipher your way though the old blue colored manual (you know the one!), you likely put it down and went over to Google to figure out if your obscure citation is correctly done. Now this is YOUR book. Easy to look up the new 7th edition rules. The spiral binding means it lays flat, thus saving you the sort of post-it note abuse that makes your desk more like a 3rd grade collage project. The space saving size allows it to sit on my genuine work surface. Not the floor. Or against the wall. Or out the window. Bless you!
Check the pages mine was missing some and some were out of order

It was great until I realized that it was missing 65 pages and that there were large chunks of pages that were out of order. I need something now that I don’t have to worry about missing pieces of vital information. Returned it. If they fix the pages issue this looks to be a fantastic reference and the pages that were there were easily understood and followed.
Thorough but complicated

I needed this guide for my economics class. I can find the information in the manual, but I struggle with doing so quickly as it is very lengthy. I would recommend it to someone that is frequently writing in APA for their studies, but I recommend taking some time to understand the layout before starting a paper.

Although the content is incredibly useful for someone needing to write papers in this format, it is absolutely overpriced for its quality. The paper is thin and the A5 format wasn’t well advertised so I’m finding the font very small. The ringbinding is almost a necessity if, like me, you are looking at the book alongside your unformatted paper, but I can see the pages will soon come loose with minimal use. A tricky decision because I really do need access to the content!
Great substitute for the manual

I have both the manual and the concise guide. Whilst I recommend the manual, this is a good resource particularly for the academic that needs a quick way to check out students submissions they are grading this book it great to keep on your desk nearby.
For students this is a good resource to have as an alternative to the manual.
