Attributes of Complementary Alternative and Integrative Health PDF

Complementary Alternative and Integrative Health PDF A Multicultural Perspective provides a critical analysis of non-allopathic healing practices, including their uses, limitations, and scientific basis. The evidence-based discussion explores complementary, alternative, and integrative health (CAIH) across various cultural and ethnic groups both in the U.S. and internationally, to give you a greater understanding of the different modalities—including a literature-backed examination of proven methods and questionable practices within a cross-cultural framework. Each chapter highlights the scientific analysis of the practices relevant to each group, and guides you toward independent analysis of the risks and benefits of the practices discussed. Emphasizing the student as a future health professional, this book includes case studies, examples, questions, and discussion problems that underscore the role of health educators in educating consumers about CAIH practices.

Well organized information
March 9, 2018

I LOVE ❤️ this book! It is very easy to read and even more important, relocate later what I’ve read. 162 pages are an alphabetical list of essential oils. Each is given 3 pages about the particular oil: a picture of the source, some history and description on the first page.page 2 includes info about research studies, safety, and the therapeutic components, while number 3 offers 7 uses for the particular oil.
Further on we are given 89 pages for various conditions with suggestions of useful oils and applications. This is so helpful being alphabetical.
But my very favorite is chapter 7! It is worth the price of this volume!
I have a few other books on this subject, but this is the best.
If you only buy one book on the subject, this is the one you should get.

Excellent Advise on Using Essential Oils
September 25, 2017

This book is an excellent guide to essential oil usage. You will learn about each oil: what it is, what it does, and how to use it, either by ingesting it, diffusing it, or using it topically. It includes all the cautions and warnings needed for safe their use, including advising that you should seek the expertise of health care professionals if you are taking medications or pregnant. Additionally, in the back you will find a few food recipes using essential oils, and many recipes to make your own cosmetics and household cleaners. There is a small pet section as well. I highly recommend it, and will buy for gifts in the future. At this time it is temporarily unavailable in hard cover form, which I recommend, because it is easier to lay flat while using the recipes, so I hope that it becomes available soon.

I saw this book in my Chiropractors office and after looking at it for just a few minutes I knew I needed to have this book. The infomation in this book is vast and very well organized. The photography is gorgeous. Someone had complained in a review that the book had a cheap plastic spiral binder. It does have a spiral binder within the hardcover but, it is plastic coated metal. My only complaint about this book is the book itself and not the contents. The paper is very very thin. I would suggest going through the book gently at first as some of the pages stick close to the binding. I’m still going to give 5 stars though, because I know if it had better quality paper the book then would be around $60 or $70 as opposed to the $31 that I paid. So I’ll just be more gentle with this awesome book!

Best Essential Oil Reference book
January 11, 2017
I have a ton of essential oils books and what a great essential oils book this is. Most books are just repeats of what we already know. this book is full of useful information about oils and information on how to make our lives better without the use of toxins. There is a wonderful section on the history and usage of essential oils, individual oil information, health and healing, foods, great DIY information. This is exactly what I thought it would be. This is my main go-to book for essential oil information.

Couldn’t recommend unfortunately
February 2, 2021

This book has a great deal of information offered in different ways which is great. However, the caveat for me is that the warnings in the front of the book are frightning like those prescription commercials. When saying that application is best on the bottom of the feet because they will bypass the liver so as not to accumulate and cause harm; yet, has options of diffusing, topical, ingesting, salves, soaps, cleaning products, skincare etc makes it seem so safe and so many ways to use it the potential for overuse seems easy. I think this is confusing and potentially dangerous. How much causes accumulation in the liver and or the respiratory system? Liver and respiratory failure? My second concern is the over simplified section for pets. I feel this section is very poorly researched. Humans, dogs, horses, birds and cats have significantly varied sensitivity to these concentrated scents. Lavender wasn’t even on the list of dangerous ones and will kill a cat. Sporting dogs nostrils are huge for scenting a quarter mile away, can you imagine diffusing a strong oil, and using them as cleansers and body lotions as well. I am much more wary of essential oils now before reading this book.

Wonderfully well-written and informative book on essential oils and their many uses. I loved the interaction between the three authors and their life stories. But more importantly, the essential oils are presented in an excellent way with examples of how to utilize each oil.
All in all, an expertly researched and terrific book!
