“It’s just OK. I was familiar with the format of First Aid since using it first for my Step 1, but the style just wasn’t as helpful at this stage for the EM boards.It’s colorful, has a lot of graphics and bubbles and such, but these feel just distracting. For the EM boards, you’re reviewing things you’ve (hopefully) learned over several years of residency, and if you’re like me, are looking for a no-frills, high-yield only book. There was a lot of space wasted on explaining very basic concepts, and I felt a lot of information was left out in the process. I instead went with the AAEM book and never looked back.

If you’re just starting residency, I can see where this book would come in helpful as it does a decent job of laying the foundation for what you’ll learn in greater depth. That being said, I didn’t use this at the beginning and did just fine, especially with the prevalence of online resources such as with FOAM or HippoIvy many errors, poor index July 30, 2017.Good content but there are several typos and the index is very frustrating to use. many topics that are covered in the book that arent listed in the index – for example “volvulus” is not in the index, neither is “midgut volvulus” but “malrotation with volvulus” is there. It makes the book much more difficult to use than it should be. Update: the more i use this book the more frustrating i find it. the listings in the index are often off by 1-2 pages which is annoyingUpdate: some info in here is just wrong, they list nerve injury associated with hip dislocation as femoral nerve however every other sour”
