I kind of liked the main lead characters, and leads in secondary story…except every character starts off as a one-note cliche, then never changes. Hero is bull-headed chauvinist; heroine is feisty but always righteous; secondary hero is close-minded and unforgiving; secondary heroine undeservedly hangs her head and yearns for forgiveness throughout. These are completely one-dimensional characters I kept hoping would grow up, but except for about 5 sudden pages near end, no such luck.

I don’t recommend this book; aside from poor character development, this whole book just feels old and outdated.

I’ve always loved this book. Linda Lael Miller has been a favorite of mine for a long time. Sometimes the banter between the hero and heroine is a little annoying, but for a quick read, this book does the job.

I LOVED THESE BOOKS….
I seriously cannot rave enough about LINDA LAEL MILLER’S books
The first one is as good as the second,third, fourth as many as she has written ….LOL 🙂
Any of her book’s or series is just as interesting as the first one you begin reading .
still any excellent reading I would recommend any and all LINDA LAEL MILLER’S Books.
Once you read just one of her books 🙂 you just wont want to ever stop ,

A woman who worked alongside her physician father in the Civil War battles agrees to marry a man without ever seeing him. She has been playing piano for money. As a single woman she has just enough money for a meal or for a night’s lodging when she sees a notice asking for a bride for a man in town. Misunderstandings happen and mistakes are made. Lydia marries a brother who is much harder to deal with than the one she thought she was to marry.

Adventure, heart WRENCHING fear, pain, love that makes you think the stars were hung just for you. If this is what you are looking for and the book is written by Mrs. Miller then you will not be disappointed.
