Missing the “spark” of Life

This book contains all the very basic information – which is necessarily complex and detailed the human body being the miracle it is – but the “tone” of the of the writing doesn’t work for me. I could almost believe it was put together by a computer, and an outdated computer because when speaking of “Junk DNA” the author leaves it at that, and yet it’s well known now that there are, as expressed by Scientific American, “Hidden Treasures” in our so-called junk DNA. “What’s in a name?” asked Juliet. As it turns out, a great deal! This book was published in 1921, long after the myth of junk DNA was debunked.

I also disliked how the author compared some of our inner workings with those of a car’s engine. What came first, embodied human minds or the cars we build? This book provides all the basic information (if “basic” can be used in reference to the mind-blowing manifestation of intelligent design that is the human body) but if the author wasn’t aware of (or did not bother to mention) that there really is no “junk” in our DNA, I wonder what other more up-to-date information has been left out.

This book has everything you learned when you were younger (and then some…), but have forgotten over time. Though the intended audience of the book may be specific medical fields — the information applies to everyone. After all, we all have bodies and bodily processes! When learning or relearning terms and definitions, it’s all to easy to forget them days later. Not so with this book… the foundation/review of Greek and Latin roots and suffixes, coupled with the well-timed illustrations, helps the information ‘stick’ in ways that other reference-type books don’t. Highly recommend!

EVERYTHING you need to know about the human body

This book is chock full of information about the human body, including over 300 drawings to help you visualize (and remember!) the anatomy and physiological processes. It’s an excellent read and study aid for anyone who is learning about what the body is made of and how it functions. I strongly recommend this book.

This book is the best $2.99 A&P you’ll find for a non-medical person to begin learning. It can be very helpful in understanding one’s own health condition. If terminology is decoded and functionality is simplified, you have a good shot of understanding what is happening with your own health data.

I been struggling trying to understand what my textbook tells me about A&P, but this book makes understanding so easily and there are diagrams that help with it too!
