Now, on the afternoon of my 18th birthday, my mother is running around the house making sure all the windows are barred and the doors locked.
But it’s pointless.

Peter Pan — but darker, spicier, and dare I say better.
February 27, 2022
This is not Peter Pan as you know it. Nikki St. Crowe took the Neverland canon and gave more mystery, suspense, and spice, and I am here for it.
Winnie Darling is on borrowed time. On the 18th birthday of all Darling women, they disappear without a trace. They eventually come back, but they are never the same and are mostly broken when they return. For years, Winnie’s mother has prepared her for this day, seeking out everyone and anyone who would try to break this curse. Even when they could not afford it, Merry sunk so much of their money into what is most likely snake oil when it comes to protecting Winnie from the fate that awaits her.
On her 18th birthday, Peter Pan comes to take Winnie away to Neverland where she meets his inner circle of Lost Boys: twins Kas and Bash and the broody Vane. All of them have been trying for years to find Peter’s shadow, and they believe a Darling descendant could unlock the secret as to where it is. Could Winnie be the key, or is she just another Darling pawn set to break before she goes back to the real world?
This book was so hard to put down. The story had a great pace and kept me riveted from the first page to the last. Nikki St. Crowe does a fantastic job of keeping us guessing the mystery around what has happened in Neverland while infusing the right amount of sizzling spice between Winnie, Pan, and his Lost Boys.
This is the first of the Vicious Lost Boys series, and it will end with a cliffhanger that will blow your mind. It is also a dark reverse harem romance, so heed the trigger warnings before jumping in.
If you love dark retellings of your favorite fairy tales, I highly recommend picking this book up.

“Take it all, darling. Be a good girl.”
The Never King by Nikki St. Crowe is a Dark Reverse Harem retelling of Peter Pan between Pan, The Lost Boys (Vane, Bash and Kas) and the MFC Winnie Darling.
All of the Darling women for many generations have been disappearing on their 18th birthday and when they return they are all completely mad. Winnie thinks this is all some crazy story that’s been told since she was little. Until on her 18th birthday, Pan shows up to take her to Neverland to help find what was stolen from him by one of the Darlings.
“I don’t know where I expected this night to go, but it wasn’t here. I am no longer lost. I think I might have finally been found.”
Y’all this book is the best read of the year so far for me. I nearly cried when I was left with that cliffhanger! Winnie is easily one of my favorite FMC, she’s funny, brave and cheeky but still kind and empathetic. The world building was so good and kept me so entranced the entire time I was reading, I felt like I was in the story. Peter Pan was one of my first crushes and seeing him rewritten as an adult is the best fantasy. The MMCs all have such different personalities so it makes it easy to fall in love with them in different ways, and they’re all sooooo sexy. I love my fictional men crazy and toxic so Vane can have it any way he wants but honestly they can all have me any way they want… Overall this is such an amazing, well written and steamy story and I have been recommending it to everyone I know ! Can’t wait for the rest of the series.

Why is everyone recommending this?! It was horrible! Also nobody mentioned it was reverse harem. I thought it a bad story poorly written

The story is fast-paced and quick to get over the beginning to go straight to the smut.
This book has a lot of potential; it does. However, it needs to be fleshed out more. There’s little to no world building or character development. It would also benefit from some editing.
A few things rubbed me the wrong way, specifically the constant description of the female mc as “thin” and “boney” and “easily broken.” It was fine at first, but then when the author refers to her with these descriptors on every page, it feels… weird. There’s also a lot of references to her underage sexual proclivities, which I thought were unnecessary.
I do like the premise, so I’ll probably read book too.
