The Writers

Christiane Bellstedt Myers was brought up in small town Canada, where homespun items were a way of life. She became a primary school teacher and moved to the UK over 30 years ago. She has always enjoyed creating welcoming spaces and utilising items that had had a previous life. Christiane started hosting little fairs in her home, where friends and strangers asked her to show them how to recreate the same feeling within their own houses. These questions gave her an idea and in 2008 she started The Cozy Club, where kindred spirits gather for a day of creating and friendship. Chris has been featured in many magazines including Country Living, The English Home and Victoria. Her previous books, Scandi Christmas and Seasonal Scandi Crafts, are both published by CICO books. She lives in Buckinghamshire together with her husband in their cozy cottage.

I have been following Chris online for a few years, and have her two other books. I have been eagerly anticipating the release of The Natural Cozy Cottage, and it does not disappoint! It is full of stunning photos of her beautiful home and garden, as well as suggestions and directions on how to achieve a similar look in your own home. I read it from cover to cover as soon as it arrived, and I have already read it again since then. The paper used and style of printing of the actual book itself is also exquisite. Highly recommend (and hope to get to the Cozy Club myself one day!)

Just love this book so much I ordered another to give to my mom. Lots of pictures and DIYs at the end of each chapter. I love to snuggle up with a cozy blanket and a cup of tea on a Saturday morning reading this book..

I own many books on cottage and farmhouse decorating, but this book is my new number 1 favorite of all! I not only love it’s smaller size, not big and cumbersome, but every page is a beautiful surprise! So much inspiration for vintage cottage decorating! I absolutely love it!

This book is exquisite! The whole book is like walking through the front door into the authors home and receiving a warm welcome, before being offered tea and cookies. Chris has shared her philosophy for making a cosy home and the photographs by Shirlie just transport you immediately. This book, whilst a visual treat and just delightful to thumb through, also motivates one to look at one’s own home with fresh eyes. it expounds the joy of findings preloved items and giving them a fresh look, so many of the little projects which are included in this delight are very doable and, importantly, inexpensive. Buy this book – it is a bringer of joy!

I have been following Chris on instagram for some time and I always find her posts inspiring. I also have her two previous books, Scandi Christmas and Seasonal Scandi Crafts and I have made several of the projects in those books, with great results. These two books have become two of my favourite books and I have given them as presents to girlfriends who also love them. When I saw that Chris was publishing a third book, I did wonder if she could possibly have more interesting, unique ideas.
As soon as I received Natural Cozy Cottages, I knew I had another favourite to add to my collection. Lots of lovely styling ideas that are easy and inexpensive to implement. I think the reason that Chris is able to keep producing books with new ideas is that this is how she lives her life. From her instagram posts, you can see that she is constantly trying to add beauty to everyday life, even making her utility room look enchanting!
I have ready many books of this genre and have dismissed most as repetitive and uninspiring. This book is a real gem and I know I will enjoy it for many years to come.

Having been lucky enough to have visited Chris’s beautiful home I can now visit whenever I want by just delving into her gorgeous book! It’s so much more than a book of pretty pictures as Chris explains in that lovely warm Canadian manner of hers little ways that you can create the cozy look in your own home – simple touches that make all the difference. If you love cozy cottage style you certainly won’t be disappointed by this book!
