Joe Greer never imagined he would become a photographer.
Raised in Florida by an aunt and uncle after his mother’s death when he was four, Joe had a seemingly normal childhood, spending summers at church camp and dreaming of going to college. Now, he and his wife, Madison—along with their dog, Crosby—live in Nashville, Tennessee.

This book is truly a journey through Joe’s life and how photography has helped him grow, develop, and heal. He is an amazing artist and it’s incredible how much has grown during his career. I know personally that Joe is the same in person as he seems in the book- very much a deep thinker and insightful person always looking for the beauty. The books lays out his childhood and battles into his adult life where he finds faith and photography along with Madison.
My only negative is that Joe is so well known for his street photography and there is none at all in this book- is all landscape photography. I would have loved to see how his style changed through these processes instead of just his photos now (I understand their desire to keep the book true to him now but a photo from each phase would have been incredible), however I do believe that Joe will release more books and continue to grow!!
This book also came with slight cover damage-scratches on the top.

that can be in the form of his commercial work with clients such as apple, vsco, land rover, harley davidson, jw marriott, ralph lauren, cadillac, and mont blanc. or maybe it’s in the form of his portrait work collaborating with artists like leon bridges, karlie kloss, joji, or his ongoing body of work photographing his muse and wife maddie. lastly, it could be greer’s personal work in street photography, landscapes, or documenting the intimacy of his complex relationship with family. for greer, photography has become his way of communicating.
