Features of The Last Eligible Billionaire PDF

Emotionally unavailable doesn’t even begin to describe Hayes Rutherford. He’s cold. He’s distant. He has more defenses than a nuclear missile silo. And he’s the ultimate catch of the century. At least, according to his bank statement. The Last Eligible Billionaire PDF

My job’s simple: Keep Hayes’s matchmaking relatives and all interested ladies away from the cranky, grumpy, walled-off heir to my favorite movie empire by pretending to be his one true love, and in return, he won’t ruin my life over a teensy, tiny little misunderstanding.

But the more I sneak past his walls and fences, the more I realize that while we might be from different worlds, we have more in common than either of us expected. The man under all the glitz, glamour, and dollar signs could be the real love of my life.

But you know what they say about fake dating a billionaire—it’s all fun and games until the scandals start.

The Last Eligible Billionaire is a swoony, laugh-out-loud romance featuring a botched wax job, a woman in over her head, a man in over his heart, and the sweetest misguided dog to ever play matchmaker…or at least make sure these two anti-love birds never have clothes when they get out of the shower. It stands alone and comes complete with grand romantic gestures.

If this were teen agers It would make sense

This was my first time reading a book by this author and yikes!
If there is one thing I can’t stand when it comes to characters is immaturity. This people where 30-40’s and the heroine a 30+ divorcee just rented a beach mansion for $50 dollars a night. Then she is surprised when the Billionaire hero shows up and keeps telling her this is his house and she is the intruder. Yeah a 30+ thinks she can rent a mansion for 50 dollars a night, very smart right? If that is the case then I have a bridge I want to sell her.
Then she acts like an annoying teenager when he is telling her to get out.
I just couldn’t get past chapter 5. Can’t believe this writing it was just bad and the attempted comedy fell flat. The “jokes” were cheese at best.
Listen when looking for a good romance novel I don’t expect Shakespeare or Jane Austen but man at least a good story or make an effort.

All. The. Stars!

Oh. My. Heart! I’ve loved and enjoyed quite a few of Pippa Grant’s romantic comedies, but this new standalone? It did a Marshmallow and ran off with my heart and handed it over to Hayes Rutherford (not to be confused with Rutherford Hayes, 19th president of the United States of America) and Begonia Fairchild. Who, you may ask, are Hayes and Begonia, and how the heck does something like a marshmallow become a thief of hearts? Welp, if you don’t know the answer to either of that, then that tells me that you’ve yet to read The Last Eligible Billionaire. That leads me to a question of my own: What’s wrong with you? Clearly something is amiss because this book MUST either already be sitting on your bookshelf OR added to your to-be-read list.

The Last Eligible Billionaire is a fake relationship romance, and I haven’t made a secret of my muted enthusiasm for this particular trope because it tends to play out the same way. But then, this is a Pippa Grant-penned novel, and if anyone was going to be able to make me fall in love with the trope and be a smitten kitten and happy puppy mash-up of a reader, it would be her. Her main characters are the epitome of grumpy and sunshine. Hayes is almost forty and being considered the last eligible billionaire in the country has become the bane of his existence. He blackmails Begonia into agreeing to be his girlfriend for two weeks in order to stave off his family’s matchmaking, but who would’ve thought being personally and purposely mismatched with the thirty-two-year-old teacher would be so life-changing?

This book. THIS. BOOK!!! We’re only in the first quarter of the year, but I’m already putting it out there: This book is one of the best romance reads for 2022. It’s got that patented Pippa Grant rom-com magic that I’ve come to expect from this author, but it also has a sprinkling of angst to it, enough to put a smile on the face of an angst addict like me. Ironic, I know. But this smile was different, and by “different” I mean basking in the swoon of it all. I adored Begonia, and I was captivated by Hayes. At the onset, these two were more nonsensical as a couple than an actual love match, but they simply clicked and were wonderfully extraordinary. They had a memorable cast of supporting characters, but the one who took the cake was Marshmallow, scene-stealer of the highest furry calibre. The Last Eligible Billionaire has stolen my heart, and in return, I’m handing it all of the le-sigh-worthy stars.

“It’s my own perfectly imperfect fairy tale.”
March 3, 2022

Reading a Pippa Grant book is like being wrapped in your favorite blanket wearing your most comfortable slippers and riding the biggest roller coaster ever in the dark. It’s comforting and familiar, you have absolutely no idea where this crazy ride will take you, but you know it will be exhilarating, euphoric, and you’ll laugh your fool head off.

Hayes Rutherford, heir to the Razzle Dazzle movie empire (think Hallmark on steroids), just wants to escape to his Maine beach house, decompress, and sleep for about three days. Except there’s a small woman with, is that magenta? hair, singing (badly) at the top of her lungs in his bathroom. And her dog, Marshmallow. Did I mention Hayes is allergic to dogs?

Begonia Fairchild just wants a couple of weeks to regroup after her divorce and find the part of herself she knows is still worthy (fallout complements of a weasely ex) before returning to her job as a high school art teacher at the end of the summer. She should have known the cheap rental price on the lavish beach house was too good to be true. And now its owner wants to coerce her into being his fake girlfriend to get his family and the entire population of gold-digging divas off his back. Last eligible billionaire and all that.

This is a pretty classic Pippa setup. Grumpy, grouchy, cold-hearted hero meets sweet, genuine, sunny, heart-of-gold heroine and sparks fly. Yet somehow, both Hayes and Begonia are larger than life, complex, and eternally endearing, and they absconded with my heart in the first few chapters. I’ve fallen completely nose over toes with all these characters and I’m not ready to say goodbye. I want more! The Last Eligible Billionaire PDF

And that adorable troublemaker, Marshmallow, well he definitely deserves his own paragraph. One of the things Grant does amazingly well is secondary characters of the four-legged variety, and delightful Marshmallow is a laugh a minute. A trained service dog who flunked out because he’d rather do something because he wants to and not because it helps his human – opening doors, stealing clothes, making private, ahem, objects public at the most inopportune times — let’s just say this precocious pup could teach our pal George Cooney a thing or two.

If you’re looking for a romance that refuses to take itself too seriously, one that should carry a warning about reading it in public (blushing, snorting, etc., definitely ensue), and one that is laugh-till-you-cry hilarious but is still tender, poignant, and overflowing with heart, you’ll love everything about Hayes and Begonia’s romance. Your sides will hurt from laughing, your heart will happy sigh, and it will be one of your very favorite reading escapes ever, so make sure you don’t miss it.
