Using this as a reference for an at home project

I am a Software Engineer and I really don’t know anything about the nervous system, but this book is pretty clear thus far. There are diagrams used in conjunction with terminology that help a complete novice like me get at least some idea how the nervous system works.

I have an interest in creating a software simulation of the central nervous system as an at home project. I feel a lot of how the nerve cell functionality is explained is close enough to be utilized to create a prototype simulation.

I’ve only studied thru chapter two, but it’s been packed full of useful information that I can understand (after I read it over several times, that is). I like this book.

A beautifully illustrated book full of sounds, I could hear Jazmin as she roared with the thunder and stomped with the rain. My kiddo is no stranger to doing a little puddle jumping himself, this was the perfect book to read on a rainy night.

The illustrator is gifted – Jazmin really looks alive. You look at her being despondent, or angry, or jubilant, and you can feel what she’s feeling. There’s an energy in these pictures that perfectly matches the sound pictures created with the text – the bang boom CRASH of the thunder, and later, of Jazmin’s marching the rain out of the street (even the weeds came out!) so she can have her parade after all. Any library would be enriched by this book.
