I couldn’t put it down, wanting to get to the end to find out how life turned out for each of the characters. But I also didn’t want it to end, because spending time with those people was a wonderful experience.

Don’t let the slow start fool you. It gets much better as it goes along. I rated it three stars because of the swearing and some drinking. I don’t like it. The essence of the whole story is good. Three cousins inherit their Nanny’s property and a task to complete. Each person works toward inner healing and has a successful outcome.

Hope can mean many different things

At first I was put off by the brutality of the grandmother and the hopelessness of fate. However, once I got into the story and realized what was happening in each characters lives, I grew forgiving, just as they did. Bipolar disease runs in my family and with research and medication, people can live a more fulfilling life.

The Hope Chest is a story about three cousins who were raised in different environments, but their lives tie together because of their grandmother. The cousins are brought together after their grandmother dies. One of the requirements of her will is for the three to finish a quilt she started before she died. While finishing the quilt, they discover how each other was raised and how it carried thru their adulthood. You can never tell someone’s life by the cover. This is a story of family, and the troubles families endure.

This is a very good author and thus is a wonderful story about it grandmother that tries to right wrongs to help her grandchildren live better and be happy and it is about depression or bipolar disorder

This is a great new beginnings book. Rediscovering who they are is what the book is about. I like that they aren’t blaming their problems on their past just learning about how it shaped their family and themselves and learning how to become better people.
