Features of The Forgotten Fleet by John Winton PDF

The Forgotten Fleet by John Winton PDF: World War II in the Pacific is often seen as a conflict between American and Japanese forces, with the importance of the British Pacific and East Indies Fleets often overlooked by all. Yet, by VJ-day they had more than 600 ships and nearly a quarter of a million men — British, Australian, New Zealanders, Indians, Canadians and South Africans.

Recovering from the tremendous blow that they had been dealt during the initial Japanese attacks they had earned the respect of their American allies, learning, supporting and working in conjunction with them to turn back the Japanese tide.

John Winton uncovers some of the epic moments of the Royal Navy’s service in the Far East, from the air strikes on the Palembang oil refineries to the capture of Rangoon and the sinking of Haguro, the daring penetrations of Singapore, Saigon and Hong Kong harbours by midget submarines to the attack on the Japanese home islands with Halsey’s Third Fleet.

‘a tale worth telling, and one worth reading. … a book that should be read by every student of World War II in the Pacific, and of the Royal Navy.’ Warship International

‘…a remarkable book’ Nautical Magazine

‘John Winton has marshalled his facts superbly, with the accent all the time of the people and personalities involved.’ Navy News

‘For its honesty and clarity (and also for the thread of wit and the incisive use of the significant anecdote) his book deserves a place on the same shelf as Stephen Roskill, whose style and high quality have set an admirable standard by which such books must be judged’. The Observer

‘It is a brave story of hardy men and good ships, large and small, and of the surmounting of many formidable difficulties, both administrative and technical.’ Nottingham Guardian Journal

I bought this book because the “…made incredibly easy” series has helped in the past. But I don’t understand how this is simplified at all. It’s just a book with the same info you can find anywhere. I fail to see how this is easy or will help to pass any more than just looking at the ACLS manual (which is less than half the length). Definitely a hard pass.

My book is missing several pages
It jumps from page 38 to page 55 ,and those pages contain all the blocks . First degree to third .
I really need to study or I would send it back
So far it seems easy to follow.

Excellent resource to prep for ACLS certification. I hadn’t taken the class in several years and this book was all I used to prepare. To the point study guide without wasted reading material.

Easy to understand. I used it while doing my cognitive simulations for ACLS more than I used the AHA manual!
It was easier to navigate.

This book arrived with a tear in it. It was bought “new”. Unacceptable. Also, the content is too drawn out. I was hoping for a clear cut, short and concise guide into what to remember for the class. This was not it. I honestly think they go into too much detail and make the content seem harder than it is.

The layout on this book makes it all look harder.
Tiny print. sligjtly faded/not bold contrast print. Info on pages crammed together. Supposed to be a prep for the ACLS. “ACLS made Easy” but looks like all the info but all crammed tighter. not a funtional or pleasant read.
For me now after seeing that book the AHA ACLS book is easier + more plaeasant to read ie larger size book + good print, page and organization/spacing better. more funtional and aesthetic layout
