 What A Bunch of Nonsense!

I purchased this book for the recipes mostly and I like to read a lot but this book went straight back. Adrenals? Food maps? Are you kidding me? What a bunch of bologna!! The basic premise behind this method is that your metabolism will magically “come to life” by the constant variety of foods that you eat (it’s always healthy to eat a variety of foods) but make no mistake, portion sizes and calories are what matter for weight loss. The author claims calories DO NOT matter and that you’ll be eating tons of food (she means unlimited veggies???) Does this sound familiar? It should because the ONLY thing that matters for weight loss is consuming LESS calories than you burn. THAT IS IT. That is the basic recipe for losing weight and it’s very hard to do no matter what “diet” or “method” you use; this never changes and it never will! There is no magic bullet to weight loss which is what most people want to hear and the author really delivers that in this book. Here’s the formula: eat less than you burn and your body MUST use what it has stored as fat for fuel…this means you’ll lose weight. It’s simple but not necessarily easy.
Another thing the author suggests is drinking ridiculous amounts of water – like half your body weight every day?!!! Seriously? In my opinion, this is really really dumb. If I drank that much water, I might as well live in the bathroom! Listen to your body and just make sure that you have enough water to stay satisfied and hydrated.
Pleas don’t fall for this silly gimmick! It’s a waste of time and grocery money. You’ll never stick with something like this…it’s completely ridiculous. Your money would be better spent buying portion controlled containers, which work extremely well for weight loss. 21 Day fix or Piyo are good portion controlled food programs although I don’t do the workouts much because I prefer Jessica Smith. I do use the containers and I’ve already lost 3.5 pounds in 7 days and it was effortless – very, very simple. If you’re looking for other healthy cooking options the Mediterranean “diet” is a great and easy option. (Whole 30 has some awesome healthy meals too although I don’t agree with all the restrictions on that program either!) Save yourself the headaches and stress and don’t bother with this approach…
