The only way I could think to sum up this book and series so far is this.
Peter is the body the foundation upon which this was all built. Bash and Kas the breath, they kept everything moving one way or the other. And vane. Vane is the soul. The thing you don’t quite understand but need in order to be alive.

I have fallen head over heels in love with this series and these characters. I even like Winnie which is a rare one for me as I rarely really enjoy the females. But I love how strong and independent she is. With a good head on her shoulders. But she has her moments of vulnerability and I enjoyed those.

Somehow the author has managed to take something as simple as the world of Peter pan and make it feel fresh. And alive. So alive. My only gripe with these books is they aren’t longer. I want to be in this world more. Be with these characters longer. And waiting for the third book might end me. Or my sister might do that when she can’t stand my impatience anymore. Haha.

This Neverland is a tangled web of complicated familial and platonic relationships. Mix in greed and power, and we get grudges and ill will that span more than our own mortal lifetimes.

The Dark One is the second book in The Vicious Lost Boys series, and the adrenaline rush picks up where the first book leaves off. The Lost Boys and Winnie Darling have found Peter’s shadows. But these mystical silhouettes prove to be more slippery than they expected and have managed to escape their grasp. Now the Lost Boys must negotiate with enemies, such as Hook and Tilly, to regain possession of the shadows.

What I love about these series so far is that Nikki St. Crowe continues to build on this intricate world, introducing new intriguing characters and drawing us in with edge-of-your-seat suspense and super-spicy romance. The main Lost Boys might be crude anti-heroes, but each possesses one or two traits that endear them to this reader. I especially love that Winnie is the much-needed sub to these domineering personalities, and they cannot seem to process that well. ::cackle::

There is much to be explored in this world, and St. Crowe draws us into her tangled web and leaves us craving for more in the next book.

For those who are considering this series, you will need to start with The Never King, and check the trigger warnings. It is a dark and erotic read, but if that is your jam, this retelling of Peter Pan may be your next not-so-guilty pleasure.

Two shadows sprang out of the box. The Shadow of Life (Peter Pan’s) and The Shadow of Death (to have it, you become Neverland’s Dark One).

The three territories vie for The Shadows: Pan, Hook, and the fae queen.

Peter, Kas, Bash, Vane and Winnie succumb to their desires and with the proverbial walls closing in, must focus on one problem at a time. Well, Winnie may have her reverse harem started (and is was hot, hot, hot ❣️), she isn’t the only strong female character… The author actually writes in such a way that there are three strong female characters with two potential ones… One surprising one having been misplaced…

What I enjoyed most is that the author writes in a multitude of character’s POVs. It really branches out the storyline and fleshes the plot. I truly cannot wait until The Crocodile and to see how those have been affected by the darkness win or lose. Yeah, not giving much away I know but this one really branches out and has you on edge for the next one… Their Vicious Darling ❣️

The Dark One continues the Vicious Lost Boys series. Winnie has now taken up residence in Neverland with Pan and his Lost Boys, but the mystery of Pan’s shadow takes a turn and the dynamic between her and all the guys still has some fine tuning to do. This story is short and not-so-sweet, but once again the author weaves an enchanting story that packs a lot of steamy action, character growth, and twists into it.

I love each of the characters even more than in the first book, though Pan and Vane still share my top spot for the guys! Winnie is even ballsier here and I love her fierce loyalty to the guys and her willingness to throw caution to the wind and demand what she wants from them.

WOW! Nikki St. Crowe has done it again!

The Dark One pickups right where the Never King left off. There are two shadows (including Pan’s) that are released to Neverland. In the Never King, Winnie decided to stay in Neverland to be with her Lost Boys.

In this book, we learn so much more about Kas and Bas, especially where their loyalties lie. I was hoping we would see more of this, based on the teaser from the Never King. We also see additional characters and their POVs throughout the story, which helps bridge the gaps and the story together. However, this book really tells the reader who Vane is. His struggles. His true feelings for Winnie. His feelings towards his shadow. His truth. I could not get enough of him and I am here.for.him.all.day.every.day.

I really enjoyed this book, and can’t wait for the final installment coming out in September.
