This is a thorough review of addiction by an exeperienced physician written in a personal way.
The solution is not simple but comprehensive. This book will help you if you are helping an addict.

Excellent book authored by one of the most significant leaders in the field of addiction treatment! Dr. Sederer is as genuine and sincere in his approach as he is knowledgeable. Addiction Hope conducted an important interview with Dr. Sederer about this book and I believe you will be filled with hope and encouragement after learning his practical, optimistic and wise suggestions for addressing the opioid epidemic. I highly recommend reading this book!

This is an excellent book. It is very thorough in its coverage of factors influencing addiction and recovery, as well as treatment strategies. It does indeed talk a good bit about Medication Assisted Therapy, which another reviewer said it did not. It is hopeful without over-promising that any one treatment strategy is guaranteed to work. I learned a lot.

Misleading book about the solution to treatment for opioid addiction, focusing more on the ineffective approaches to addiction treatment in the past. Barely cover Medication Assisted Treatments, let alone stresses the importance of using them in treating opioid use disorder,
