Cute but someone got lazy. Many of the minor arcana are just the suits picture. 15 seasons and they couldn’t find a character or monster to represent every card?

I am a longtime fan of Supernatural, watched it from the first season all the way through to the end. The cardstock and quality of the cards is fantastic, but half the number cards are pips for no apparent reason. After fifteen seasons, there is literally no reason that every card can’t be an actual image. Was pretty disappointed when I first flipped through it. Also will make the deck quite jarring to try and actually use. Picture, picture, pip does not make for a very good reading experience. If you’re a diehard fan, it’s probably worth getting just to have as memorabilia, but I definitely don’t recommend it as an actual read deck.

Honestly I think I’m going to return this deck.

The characters referenced in these cards have such deep and wide ranging potential for accompanying symbolic imagery, yet there is basically none on any of the cards. It’s just the characters themselves, sometimes with an accompanying prop (a gravestone with Death, Billy with a scythe), but nothing more. The art just feels like 78 missed opportunities for exploration, especially given how much 15 seasons of universe development could’ve offered.

The end result is cards that come off feeling cold – both as art, and as tarot. The images are fine from a technical standpoint, but empty, unrelatable, and devoid of the fun and the love that make transformative fan art such a rich mine for diving deeper into these characters we’ve come to love.

The other downside of the simplicity of these cards is that they are not friendly to tarot readers, nor to casual fans of the show. Without an encyclopedic knowledge about every aspect of each character on every card, there is nothing on the cards you can use to piece together a message or narrative of any kind. Even the boys sharing the Fool card – there’s nothing there. It’s just a drawing of two men walking toward the viewer. Empty. It’s all empty.

I appreciate the attempt, but honestly I would not recommend this deck to fans of the show, or tarot readers looking to expand their deck collection, as these cards don’t serve either group.

I’ve never left a review like this before, and it breaks my heart that I’m finally doing so when it’s for something I wanted so much to love. But the truth is I don’t even like it enough to keep it as a memento. I’d rather have the $20 bucks.

So much wasted opportunities here

First, let’s talk about what I like about this deck. It comes in a nice little box. The guidebook seems adequate if a bit meh. The cardstock has a decent thickness and I love the color palette of the artwork.

That covers the pros. If you just want a deck because it says “Supernatural” on it, then purchase, but otherwise, such a waste of opportunities.

Most of the characters are completely unrecognizable. Even the Iconic Dodge is never shown in its full glory.

Supernatural has 14 seasons of like 240+ episodes and they couldn’t come up with enough images for 78 cards? This deck should have NO PIP cards. Also, why not portray the characters in ways that symbolize the meanings of the cards? You’re creating original artwork for the deck, why not use the rich and varied symbolism available from centuries of Tarot tradition!?!

Instead, the cards are random characters (mostly unrecognizable) in just simple static, uninteresting poses.

This deck could have been SO AMAZING. There was so much potential to make this a stand out product that would have kept fans and Tarot enthusiasts buying for years to come. Instead, they gave us a sad, sad deck of cards that will never make it into my regular rotation.

So very disappointed by what could have been. Breaking my heart like it’s Destiel time.

Physical package is great… as a tarot deck, it has some weak points.

Cards are nice and heavy stock. I’m going to guess somewhere around at least 350gsm. They have a nice, matte finish. The color scheme chosen for the cards matches the box art, and the art is well-done for the most part. A couple of characters are somewhat unrecognizable… like Charlie doesn’t exactly look like Felicia Day… but it’s close enough.

Symbolism chosen for the major arcana is spot on. All the characters fit the theme of the card.

Minor arcana is another story entirely, as someone else pointed out here. Many of the cards are just pip cards without any illustration other than the standard wands (bones), cups (goblets), swords (blades), and coins (pentagrams). This is fine, I guess, if you are already a seasoned tarot practitioner, but if you’re just starting out, this is not a deck for learners. Fifteen seasons worth of material should have provided plenty of material to have all the cards illustrated like in a standard tarot deck. Imagery isn’t just pretty pictures for tarot. The art means something and helps you to interpret the spread. At least they included a book, however small.

Another drawback, which may just be a personal thing with me, is that the card backs are not reversible. The backs show the “devil’s trap” from the show, so it can be easy to tell which cards are going to come up reversed or not unless you purposefully force yourself not to look so you won’t be biased in the deal. This is unfortunate. They could have done like many playing cards have done and doubled the image on the back so one was facing the other, causing symmetry. Then, you wouldn’t be able to pick out reversed cards from upright.

Package smells nice, too. I love the smell of new books and of new decks, and this is just a comforting, freshly printed scent.

If you’re a fan of the show, pick up a deck. If you’re getting them to actually do spreads, keep the caveats (and some notes) in mind.

Uma pena não terem explorado melhor a simbologia… Falharam em algumas cartas, especialmente os Arcanos Menores, que poderiam ter sido desenvolvidos com base em vários eventos da narrativa…

There is some really nice art in this deck. A lot of the minor suit cards are just drawings of the symbol… Very disappointing, the major Arcana was pretty awesome. Could’ve included some nice scenery even?

If you, or someone you know is a Supernatural fan, get it. The attention to detail is phenomenal. the cards are absolutely beautiful and authentic. They are perfect weight and nicely balanced. I’ll admit I was worried that they would be some kind of cheesy, cheap, and rough. They are the complete opposite of that. Treat yourself with this deck, you will not regret it.

Não concordo com algumas imagens dos arcanos maiores e dos arcanos menores. A simbologia do tarô foi um pouco comprometida.
A qualidade das cartas e a caixinha para guardar o deck são de extrema qualidade. Confesso q comprei por curiosidade. Mas não me arrependo! Quem é conservador não vai gostar!

Fan de supernatural? Vous serez plongé avec les arcanes majeurs de ce tarot dans l’univers de la série qui représente tous les personnages ou presque de cette fiction. J’enlève une étoile car tous les efforts ont été mis sur les arcanes majeurs mais les autres cartes font bien pâle figure bien dommage! Mais recommande rien que pour les arcanes majeurs aux fans! Viens avec un livret assez complet
