Excellent true crime writer. RIP Ann Rule!!

My first Ann Rule book, but won’t be my last! Such an engaging writer and I have burst out laughing so many times at how sarcastically she writes about this nut-job Dianne Downs. What a piece of work that chick was!!! Lol. If you like True Crime, this is a must read. I remember the story when it happened and I saw the Farrah Fawcett movie back in 1989, so this book was really interesting.

World’s worst mother!!!

I remember the movie based on the book. So, I decided to grab the book finally. Well written and researched. I have read other books by Ann Rule.
I felt all sort of emotions reading this. I cried for Downs children. What they suffered through. Poor babies. No one was there for them. But was so happy they finally found a loving family. They do deserved it. Cheryl, RIP sweet girl.
If you have not read this, I highly suggest you do. You’ll get a disturbing view into a psychopath.

Ann Rule truly rules!

I have read all of Ann Rule’s books. There is absolutely no one better at what she does. She makes reading these horrific true crimes as easy and compelling as any fictional novel…all the while filling you in with all the details and inside information as to the how, why, when, where and who of the ghastly crimes. She’s the best at true crime. Period

Ann Rule is not Tolstoy or Stephen King. Her books read like she just typed up her notes. But whenever I am having trouble finding a book I want to read I will let my mind coast and read one of her books. If you follow the news, you already know how it is going to end, so there is no “edge of your seat” feeling. This one is just plain creepy. I saw the movie, but I didn’t remember that until towards the end of the book. Because Diane Downs was such a prolific talker, there is a lot of stuff available about her and so it makes this one interesting. If you picture Farah Fawcett as Diane Downs it really feels creepy. Ann Rule constantly describes Diane Downs as being extremely smart, but I didn’t get that. She was stupid in so many ways in her life. She couldn’t string two sentences together that made any sense in writing and she believed she could become a doctor, being too dumb to realize that was never going to happen. Those are a couple of examples. I think she thought she was smart and Ann Rule thought it would make the book more interesting if she wrote that she was smart. I think Ann Rule does this in her books. She creates sensationalism by depicting characters in ways that will make the book more interesting. I like a book that is more factual, even though it is probably boring
