 Excellent foundation

August 18, 2015

If you are a med student this robbins is a must have. Don’t waste your time with Big robbins, you will drown yourself in that. This version has all the details you need to succeed at this level(MS-1/2) of your training. Also it is a great foundation before step 1. Sure pathoma is great but you need an actual text as your foundation and this book can be that foundation.

Okay resource but lots of jargon

August 20, 2013

I read this book for class but I’m not really sure why. I’m no stranger to medical terminology but the pathology jargon is so thick that it’s difficult to understand what’s being discussed sometimes, let alone keep you engaged. My teacher mentioned a few terms in the book that we needed to know definitions to and after I looked them up in the book was no closer to understanding their meaning- I would have been better off using Wikipedia. Diagrams and images are good but the small print far outweighs the pictures. Should have bought the eighth edition, practically the same book but much cheaper.

This helped me teach about an unusual leukemia

February 9, 2014

There was a pt that came into my hospital who had an a type of leukemia we weren’t familiar with in the pharmacy. I was able to teach the other pharmacists why this one was different. I hoped there was a chart that had all the cells made from the 3 progenitor cell that make all the cells from the bone marrow but there was only an abbreviated version.
