As a mid-60’s straight woman who is decor-challenged, it is so refreshing to find a book on decorating written in a very real voice in the same charming and endearing tone as the “Probably This” blog. So far all the DIY advice has been spot on, and easy to adapt to my own home, which unfortunately is not a cool older house in New Orleans like theirs. There are so many good ideas on a wide range of topics and I know I will refer back to the book often as I figure out what my post-retirement life looks and feels like. This is going to be my new “go to” shower gift for newlyweds, graduates and anyone else beginning a new life stage that requires setting up a new home.

I’ve been following the gents from ProbablyThis for a few years because I covet their designs but also because they are just the most genuine pair. When they announced they were writing a book, I knew I had to have it!

The book is a perfect mix of advice (I’ve been high key overwater like half of my plants), DIYs (all the garden tips), recipes (hello perfect dirty vodka martini), and a collection of really great design considerations.

This will be my housewarming gift to everyone for the rest of time and I won’t be taking further questions.

This book is like talking to an old friend who is, gently, trying to help you out of a design, cooking or libation issue. It is funny, casual and incredibly informative. They do not hit you over the head with absolute design rules or go to the most outrageously expensive options, but instead lead you to the tools you need to make your own decisions… whatever your budget. They are NOT designing your space… you are. You are being guided to explore and find that design balance of what makes you happy and what look you are trying to achieve. Then, they give you incredible recipes and great drink ideas. Thanks, boys. It proudly sits on the coffee table for all to see.. and everyone always picks it up and looks through it.

I loved everything about this book! It was just what I didn’t know I needed! Simply charming! A little bit of everything and at the same time a big help! I honestly don’t remember how I came across this book but I preordered it and I’m so glad I did! It was just delightful! I wish these guys were my neighbors! I hope they write more books!

First off, I must say that it is important for you to purchase the hardcover edition and not an electronic format of this gem. It’s simply that kind of book, one where the tactile experience of savoring each page and resting the weight of its contents within your own hands is something your e-reader will fail to provide. You will want to witness the photography, illustrations, and graphic design in all of its printed-form glory! Do not short-change yourself!

This read is nothing short of exceptional. It is full of genuine heart, giving you countless ideas covering a full-range of home-centric topics, beautiful photography, imaginative illustrations, and all laced throughout with the authors’ signature humor, wit, and good cheer. Their writing style is very approachable, so reading their work is truly fun and feels like you’re engaging with some of your closest friends. It’s all rather endearing!

I have followed these guys on IG for several years now, but I honestly have been floored by the quality of what they have produced here. Great people create great things! This is a book you will keep, refer to again and again at various stages in your life, and enjoy sharing with others.

There are abundant tips, great photos, and the advice is realistic! I’m so impressed with how many topics are covered within the 3 main categories of design, DIY and entertaining. I want to make the cocktails! and the red beans and rice (you can trust it, they’re in New Orleans! I mean, they prefer Crystal hot sauce – this is the real deal!) and they can help you renovate a camper, and pick houseplants! These are only a very few examples – Housewarming is a new classic that you can consult over and over.
