Not for residents in rad onc, more like med students

I have just graduated Rad Onc residency and I can firmly say that this book is strictly for med students trying to get into rad onc that need a quick guide. It’s just not a thorough or specific enough reference for someone in residency being held to a higher standard of knowledge. Go with the Cleveland Clinic Essentials of Clinical Radiation Oncology for a review book. Everything in this pocket guide should be in your brain by end of PGY2.

It is a good basic guide for rotations

I bought this book as a first year resident, and subsequently many of my classmates bought it. It is a good basic guide for rotations, to get an idea of simulation/dose etc. although some things vary at our institution. 1 star less because some of our books have broken binding after < 1 month, so that’s really annoying to have to find time to get the book rebound.

This is a great and portable resource for quick info on clinical radiation oncology. It has all the practical guidance that you need if you’re a student, a resident, or an attending seeing cases outside of your typical area. Easy to navigate, and fits in your pocket.
