B6 nerve damage from author’s recommended dosage – BE CAREFUL!
October 9, 2019

I started following the author’s recommendation to take B6 in July 2019. I was taking 150mg/day. Please note I was taking 50mg BELOW what Briden says might cause nerve damage, which she puts at 200mg/day. Two months later, I started experiencing severe nerve pain in my hands, feet, and back. Went to neurologist and was diagnosed with B6 toxicity. My levels are FOUR TIMES higher than the upper limit. B6 toxicity causes nerve damage. I am hoping and praying my nerves can recover. I am 32 and otherwise healthy with two small kids. Please, please, do your research – double and triple check what is recommended. Just because it’s a vitamin does not mean it isn’t dangerous. DO NOT TAKE EXTRA B6.

And there’re great ideas in the book for how to make it …
May 8, 2018

This book is incredible. I blew through it and proselytized to my friends about it. I have insulin resistant PCOS and I’ve gotten so sick of fighting with my hormones or trying to turn them off, to the detriment of my whole body. This book clicked so many pieces of endocrinology I had floating around my brain into place. I got off hormonal birth control and I finally cut out sugar and dairy because I finally understood *why I specifically* needed to, and why it has always been so hard to do previously. And there’re great ideas in the book for how to make it easier! No more dealing with the sea of one size fits all dietary restrictions; people have different food and supplement needs. Dr. Briden’s attitude towards food was so refreshing and reassuring to me after years of swinging miserably between deprivation and binging. You’re allowed to feel satisfied with your food, and it’s possible to feel satisfied without sugar, dairy, wheat, or whatever your body is sensitive to. I also started supplementing with magnesium +taurine as well as zinc and it’s the real deal, people. I already feel so much better. I came back for more copies to gift my lovely friends. Long story short is that this book is awesome. 10/10 highly recommend.

The best hormone book by far – easy to understand. Every woman and teenage girl should read this book.
March 26, 2018

This is by far the best hormone book. I have been researching hormones for the past 8 years thus reading a LOT of books and articles. This book offers so much information but in a simple easy to understand way. The author Lara Briden ND also talks about what supplements to take as well as the dosage of those supplements depending on your issues or symptoms – pay attention the specific type of supplement – not all supplements are a like. This is her most recent updated book, it includes Perimenopause and Menopause issues and how to address them. She also addresses histamines and how estrogen is the culprit. Every doctor I’ve met with had no idea why I was having these issues other than “I have seasonal allergies”. I knew that didn’t make sense being the only time I would have histamineissues was 7-10 days prior to my menses. Ladies, urinary incontinence comes from histamines due to excessive estrogen or estrogen that is not balanced with bio-identical progesterone. How do I know this – the only time I have swelling in my lower pelvic area along with urinary incontinence is 7-10 days prior to my menses – the same time my “seasonal allergies” kick in. Excellent book!!

A Histamine Intolerance imbalanced my hormones. Period Repair Manual rebalanced them again.
August 7, 2018

I usually do not have severe PMS. At the most, I will have a migraine the day before I get my period. However, I started developing several symptoms while both ovulating and during my period that I never had in the past. For the past year, my face went from smooth to having several pimples on my chin, severe breast soreness, hives, and migraines about half the time. I found this book on larabriden.com and ordered it. After reading the book, I learned that I had a histamine intolerance and about how estrogen increases histamine and histamine increases estrogen. I was already taking the recommended amount of magnesium, selenium, calcium and turmeric so I did not increase the intake of those supplements. However, I did started taking 10mg of vitamin B6 during my luteal phase (to make progesterone) and 20mg of zinc daily. My migraines improved after one month of taking the two supplements, but I was still having pimples, breast pain and hives. I did not want to increase the dosages since high doses of vitamin B6 can cause nerve damage and nightmares, and zinc can contain toxic cadmium. I decided to give the 20mg of zinc three months to work before increasing the dosages. After two months of taking vitamin B6 and zinc, my skin is clear, zero breast pain and fewer hives. I feel great again thanks to Dr. Lara Briden and highly recommend this book.
