Attributes of Occupation-Based Activity Analysis 2nd Edition PDF

Occupational therapists use occupations and activities as not just a goal, but also as a treatment medium, therefore, they must understand both the uniqueness of a client’s occupations and how an activity can be used therapeutically. To analyze the complexity of an occupation takes much more depth of understanding of the person engaging in it, his or her environment, and the uniqueness of the occupation a person has chosen. Occupation-Based Activity Analysis 2nd Edition PDF

The new Second Edition of Occupation-Based Activity Analysis continues the tradition of teaching students and clinicians the process of conducting activity analyses and occupation-based activity analyses.

Dr. Heather Thomas has updated Occupation-Based Activity Analysis, Second Edition to reflect the significant changes made to the activity analysis process and terminology in the Occupational Therapy Practice Framework, Third Edition. As in an activity analysis, an occupation-based activity analysis looks at what is required for full participation, yet goes beyond analyzing the activity; it looks at what it means for the person engaging in it and how and where it is performed by that person.

Inside Occupation-Based Activity Analysis, Second Edition, each chapter is dedicated to a component of the activity analysis process and corresponding section of the Framework. Chapters have been restructured based on a greater emphasis on occupation-based activity analysis. From start to finish, readers are guided through identifying the occupation, sequence and timing, objects and properties, space and social demands, body functions, and structures and performance skills required.

New in the Second Edition:
• Chapters throughout the text have been updated to reflect the changes in the Framework
• A new chapter to reflect the new addition to the Activity Demands section of the Framework
• Changes in terminology and definitions in the areas of occupation, performance skills, and body functions
• Additional activities provided at the end of each chapter
• Appendices and forms have been updated to reflect the changes in the Framework
• Images have been updated with greater clarity and resolution
• Updated and new instructor materials for faculty to use in the classroom

Instructors in educational settings can visit www.efacultylounge.com for additional materials to be used for teaching in the classroom.

As a foundational skill, activity analysis and occupation-based activity analysis is utilized throughout students’ careers and into their lives as practitioners, making Occupation-Based Activity Analysis, Second Edition the perfect textbook for the occupational therapy or occupational therapy assistant student, faculty, or clinician.

Reviews From Customers

“This is an excellent reference for all occupational therapy students beginning to learn about foundational skills and concepts in occupational therapy practice. It is one of the few resources available that provides an extensive outline for understanding and conducting an activity analysis. This much-needed updated edition reflects new language and changes in the Third Edition of the Occupational Therapy Practice Framework.”

Redundant and Confusing at Times
September 26, 2019

Out of all of my intro to OT books, this one is the most daunting to read. It can be very confusing at times in the way the author bounces between terminology and it could have been written in about 1/3 of the words. It is painfully redundant and could spare some confusion if thoughts were more concise. I can read one page and it’s like reading the same thought over and over just rearranged. The structure and numbering is confusing at times too. Numbered sequences don’t always match and some numbered lists should actually be bullets not a sequence. Did they even have an editor on this?? The chapters versus steps too. Chapter 2 is step 1. Chapter 3 is step 2. So on… Formatting shows a big 2, then in smaller writing is step 1. It’s caused issues in class… The book has useful info it just could have been written and formatted so much better and with a third of the redundancy.

Make sure to look through all of the pages!!
August 22, 2018

I purchased this book a little over a month ago. When I glanced through the pages, I noticed half of one of the chapters were flipped. At first I thought maybe it was part of the book as an “activity”. Fast forward it a month later when I finally got to the chapter 9, the first few pages were double printed (or printed on top of each other?) Wasn’t happy with the results

Bad quality, falling apart.
April 13, 2019

This book is supposed to be like new and of good quality, but all the pages have begun to fall out of the spine of the book at an alarming rate. I’m only one month or so into class and my book definitely isn’t going to make it through. A waste of money for a book I’ve barely opened so far. A refund would be nice.

Small details
September 17, 2016

This was delivered in a timely manner and has helps me understand the small and big details involved in becoming an Occupational Therapist. I love the break down of every activity (how, when, where, why, what). It has really opened my eyes. Making a sandwich isn’t just making a sandwich anymore.

This is a great book for students that have to do a tedious activity analysis. There are some good examples to help better explain definitions. Worth the investment if you are a student. This version is just as good as the new.

Important book for OTA students
September 17, 2016

In order to be an OTA you have to analyze the activity and there is a whole bunch of great benefits just one activity can have. Great book for beginning an OTA program.
