A book that teaches you how to learn complex neurological conditions quickly and effectively!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on July 28, 2020
One of the most challenging aspects of studying medicine is having to remember the complex constellation of signs/symptoms/associations of various conditions – it can often be overwhelming to memorise an endless list of details without having a method to link them together.
This book has a novel approach to help students/readers use memorable images to make associations between a condition, it’s clinical presentation, investigations and management. Common neurological conditions are featured – each with an graphic representing multiple aspects of the disease, a key to what each part of the image represents and a general overview of the investigation and management of the condition to link all of this together. Once you practise learning the method with one or two conditions, it becomes faster to use it for the rest and I find that the information is retained more effectively. It then becomes easier to correlate this clinically with a patient you might meet on the ward/in clinics to consolidate your learning. Highly recommended!

Illustrative diagrams that actually stick in your head!

Firstly just to say that I don’t normally post reviews and that I am a book nerd that uses all the latest textbooks for teaching medical students – this is by far one of the best visual aids for neurology that I have come across.. very well laid out and the pictures are well illustrated. May I also point out that there are lots of clinical pearls with complications and prognosis outlined for every condition – how impressive would you sound if you knew this for your neurology rotation/ward round when asked about one of these conditions?
The book lends itself to being used for medical rotations, revision for exams including MRCP/USMLE and a general primer for neurology.

Great for GP trainees looking to get a grasp on neurology. Quirky pictures but really helps to remember otherwise quite difficult conditions! Helped me a lot with my AKT revision!
