Features of Muscles of Chordates: Development, Homologies, and Evolution PDF

Chordates comprise lampreys, hagfishes, jawed fishes, and tetrapods, plus a variety of more unfamiliar and crucially important non-vertebrate animal lineages, such as lancelets and sea squirts. This will be the first book to synthesize, summarize, and provide high-quality illustrations to show what is known of the configuration, development, homology, and evolution of the muscles of all major extant chordate groups. Muscles as different as those used to open the siphons of sea squirts and for human facial communication will be compared, and their evolutionary links will be explained. Another unique feature of the book is that it covers, illustrates, and provides detailed evolutionary tables for each and every muscle of the head, neck and of all paired and median appendages of extant vertebrates. Muscles of Chordates: Development, Homologies, and Evolution PDF

Examines experimental observations from evolutionary developmental biology studies of chordate muscle development, allowing to evolutionarily link the muscles of vertebrates with those of other chordates

Discusses broader developmental and evolutionary issues and their implications for macroevolution, such as the links between phylogeny and ontogeny, homology and serial homology, normal and abnormal development, the evolution, variations, and birth defects of humans, and medicine.

WAY OVERPRICED.

This book sells for $79.99 retail.? REALLY!

I bought this yesterday expecting to read great information on my medicine. Yes cannabis is my medicine. Only thing that controls my Crohn’s disease.

The first thing I noticed was a HUGE error. It said that cannabis was used as medicine as far back as 4000 BCE. That is not so.

TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) only goes back to 2737 BCE; when The Yellow Emperor wrote the first book on internal medicine. At least tell the truth instead of wild ____ guesses.

Each chapter has several chapters but are written as separate books with separate footnotes.

After reading 25% of the book I deleted the kindle book and returned for refund.

Needless to say I cannot in good conscience recommend this book.

Not Acceptable as a Clinical Guide

Reading this book is like trying to read an unedited undergraduate paper. The information is not well organized. There are a lot of very awkward rambling sentences. There are a lot of grammatical errors. Most disappointingly, the information is presented in a very superficial and uncritical level. The authors are either very naive or very dishonest to title this as a clinician’s guide. I bought this from different store than and will be returning it.
