I’m using this book for an MSN (nurse practitioner) pathophysiology course, and it’s great! Common disorders are “mapped” in such a fashion as to make it convenient to understand the exact, straightforward mechanisms involved in a disease process. What typically takes several pages in a conventional pathophysiology text to explain about a disorder (eg, DIC, hyperthyroidism, complement cascade, hypersensitivity reactions, etc.) is nicely depicted (ie, mapped) on one page, which makes the format excellent for reviewing concepts and preparing for exams. The material in this book is not “watered down” either; the material is technical and the reader should have a solid understanding of normal physiology. (This book should be used in conjunction with other pathophysiology books. ) I would not recommend this text for undergraduate students; however, it is a needed resource (and great investment) for graduate level work (NP programs) and definitely for medical students. You won’t be disappointed, and the price is right too!
