Attributes of Medical Terminology A Living Language 7th Edition PDF

Medical Terminology: A Living Language uses a carefully constructed learning system to help students master and apply medical language. Organized by body system, the text places medical terms within the context of basic A&P. Instead of memorizing terms, students learn how to use word parts to build terms so they can interpret unfamiliar language.Medical Terminology A Living Language 7th Edition PDF

To offer context for medical terms, each body system chapter opens with a list of the pertinent word parts and their meanings, plus an illustrated overview of the relevant organs. Through Real-World Applications, you’ll get valuable practice reading real medical records and replacing lay terms with the proper terms. You’ll also interpret case study scenarios that demo the use of medical terms.

The 7th Edition will build your term-building skills with the help of a comprehensive list of word parts. New practice problems target spelling, your ability to form adjectives and your grasp of basic A&P.

Easy to Understand, But Chapter Reviews Need Revision
February 16, 2019

Overall this textbook is easy to understand and to the point which is great considering medical terminology is an entry level course and most people taking this class are new to the material entirely. The text requires almost no prior knowledge of human anatomy or anything outside of very basic human biology (ie. organ system function, understanding that the body is made up of cells etc.)

Additionally, the real world applications are a great touch and the text asks you to interpret medical terminology within a mock discharge summary and explain it in lay-man’s terms. This is a great incorporation of active learning.

I think I was most disappointed with the Chapter Review sections. Some of the questions asked in the chapter review contain questions about phrases, abbreviations or terms that were not covered in the chapter being reviewed (or any previous chapters for that matter), so one would be unable to give the appropriate answer without utilizing google or a medical dictionary. This was quite frustrating as it was consistent throughout chapter reviews.

If it wasn’t for the “fluff” of random medical diagnoses within chapters that really have nothing to do with the terminology being taught and the terrible chapter review sections that have you scrambling to decode words on google , this would be a fantastic book.

Does NOT come with Pearson access code

Book is fine, but I thought it came with an access code for MyLab. If you are looking for that – this is not the way.

Buyer beware! No access code!
January 25, 2021

The book is new, great condition. Exactly what I needed for my class. My fault for not reading the description all the way. It does clearly say that this order does not come with the access code. To order the book with the access code to order this product (0134760611 / 9780134760612 A Living Language PLUS MyLab Medical Terminology with Pearson eText – Access Card Package, 7/e) so unless you want to pay $95 for the access code on top of paying for this book, I would suggest ordering the book with the access code. Hope this was helpful for those who buy without reading the description all the way!!
