“I want my patients to feel confident with their decision to have surgery and to feel assured that they are in hands they can trust to give them the best possible outcome.”

Dr. Robert M. Bojar has been the Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Saint Vincent Hospital since 2002, having spent the previous 18 years at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, where he was an Associate Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery and Acting Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery.

Dr. Bojar spends time with each patient to explain why surgery may or may not be necessary.  “It is important for me to understand each patient’s clinical situation and concerns.  I want them to fully understand the benefits that surgery can provide, while providing a realistic appraisal of the risks involved.”

During the past 10 years under Dr. Bojar’s leadership, the surgical outcomes at Saint Vincent Hospital have been comparable to or better than all other hospitals in the state. “At Saint Vincent, we tackle virtually all cardiac surgical problems and perform surgery on many high-risk patients. This gives us the confidence to assure patients that they are going to receive the highest quality of care.”

Dr. Bojar is highly regarded as an expert on perioperative care, having written five editions of a book entitled “Manual of Perioperative Care in Adult Cardiac Surgery,” which forms the basis for the high-quality care delivered by the cardiac surgical team at Saint Vincent Hospital. This book is considered the “gold standard” worldwide and has been translated into many foreign languages.

Dr. Bojar earned his M.D. degree from Brown University. He completed residencies at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Bojar is board-certified in General Surgery and Thoracic Surgery.

Great source of information for Cardiac nurses

April 20, 2021

I was looking for this kind of book for a long time, buying different books like Fast Facts for Cardiac surgery nurse because the information in these books was not enough, multiple topics were missing or explanation was given partially. This book is very comprehensive, and what is very important, it is readable.
The book is easy to read and it has all the explanations I was looking for.
There is only one complain– small font.
I am very happy with my purchase.
