Jacqueline Lee Rosenjack Burchum, DNSc, FNP-BC, CNE joined the UT College on Nursing in July 2005. She holds national certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-BC) and Certified Nurse Educator (CNE).
She received her BSN degree at Union University in Jackson TN (1985) and earned the Master of Science in Nursing (1996) and Doctor in Nursing Science (2002) degrees from UT Health Science Center, Memphis, TN.
An early innovator and pioneer in online education, Dr. Burchum has developed and taught online courses since 1998. Her primary teaching responsibilities include Pharmacology, Advanced Pharmacology, Advanced Clinical Pathophysiology and Advanced Family Nursing.
Dr. Burchum has a special interest in the scholarship of teaching and learning and the promotion of program quality. To this end, she serves in a variety of scholarly and service roles.
She is a past National Council Licensure Examination-RN (NCLEX-RN) Item Writer and Expert Network Panel Consultant. She is an on-site evaluator for the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and a higher education online course peer reviewer for Quality Matters.
Dr. Burchum is also a journal peer reviewer for the Journal of Nursing Education and the International Journal of Transcultural Nursing and a member of the editorial review board for the Online Learning Consortium’s Online Learning Journal.
Dr. Burchum is a two-time recipient of the UTHSC Student Government Association’s Excellence in Teaching Award as well as a recipient of the 2014 UT Alumni Association’s Outstanding Teacher Award. She is the 2016-2017 UTHSC Teaching and Learning Center’s Faculty Innovation Scholar.
In 2015, Dr. Burchum assumed co-authorship of Lehne’s Pharmacology for Nursing Care. She is also co-author of Lehne’s Pharmacotherapeutics for the Advanced Practice Provider, which was awarded second place in AJNs 2017 Book of the Year Award.
