I have research interests in COPD and Asthma, and recent national responsibilities include: British Thoracic Society: Chair Professional Standards Cmmttee, Chair Workforce Cmmttee. Member of the Executive, Council and Remuneration cmmttees. Trustee; Royal College of Physicians: Specialist Representative for Revalidation. and GMC liaison Cmmttee; Department of Health: Chair Implementation Group for COPD strategy, national lead for technology-enhanced learning and co-author of Spirometry Standards.
I have a very heavy commitment to undergraduate and post-graduate education.
I also received a British Thoracic Society Meritorious Service Award for services to respiratory medicine (December 2012).
