Vincent “I’m actually very disappointed in this purchase. I read the reviews and was very excited. I have a 5 year old daughter and wanted to work with her at home. I purchased this book and what I received is not what I expected. Looking at all the reviews and I’m a little confused on how I received something so different. I took a picture of the cover and then a picture of what is inside. Every single page is a different career as pictured above. There are no puzzles or activities. Nowhere for my daughter to even write anything. If I wished to purchase a coloring book I would have went to the dollar store and bought 6 and spent the same amount as I did for this book. Very disappointed.”
SAD in Seattle “We’ve been trying to teach our daughter how to read but it had been a slow process and we found this on . We’ve tried free sight words stuff online but she’d do it but she didn’t seem that interested. With this one, she was actually enjoying it very much and she is recognizing the words covered in this workbook outside of the book. I think she likes the fact that she gets to write sentences using the words and then draw the picture at the end. She also lets her little sister color after she finishes drawing so they get to have fun together and that makes it more interesting for her. I’d recommend this to anyone who wants to help their kids learn to read. It’s a great workbook to start with for sure!”

Allie & David F “With being home due to Covid and having a kindergartner, I thought it might be a good idea to get this workbook to practice until she can return to school. So I bought a few different workbooks on online store to see if she liked any of them, here’s my thoughts on this one:

1. The pages are black and white with little to no artwork.

2. The instructions can be lengthy and require constant supervision (fine but you need to be around to read each part, difficult for them to work independently).

3. The pages repeat themselves with very little creativity, I get that you want to get the child to repeat writing the alphabet but doing the exact same formatted challenge for every letter of the alphabet is a bit boring.

Skip this one. There’s a couple on here that are cheaper that she actually loves to do, that have colorful pages with pictures and have varying challenges. Kids need exciting and colorful, new and creative—not this book.”

K&C “I bought this for my 2nd grader who has seriously struggled with sight words and reading basics.

This has been a brilliant handwriting and sight word practice book. The consistent pattern really helps her. We trace the word while saying it, then write the word, then practice the word in a sentence, find the word, read the cute rhyming cuplet using the word, color the picture, then write a sentence using the word and make a picture to go with it. It’s the perfect mix of fun and work while really helping to reinforce the word.

I was originally going to buy a different handwriting book to do along with this book, but decided to just stick with this one. This is not a book for children who do not read or write! Some basic skills are required.

The reason I’m only giving it 4 stars is because all the words are in alphabetical order, which makes going chronologocally illogical because some easier words are later and harder words are earlier. Which would be fine, IF they had a table of contents, which they don’t. That makes using the book in conjunction with other sight word material much more difficult, because I have to put sticky notes to mark the pages we’ll be doing that day, since I can’t reference a page number (there are none).

I have absolutely zero regrets about buying this book, though, and absolutely would do it again. Don’t let the more “girly” cover fool you – this book is great for boys or girls.”

marshall “If you’re looking for a book to fill some time and add some repitition to your students day. this is a good workbook. You can pretty much explain each page quickly and the student works on two related pages worth of practice.
DO I think this will teach a child to actually read? No I do not. It will add to their sight word and handwriting and fill time.”
Kelsey Tushar “This book is perfect for new readers who are learning their very first words. It has been perfect for my almost four year old who is just learning to read. The pages are simple and easy to understand and have spots to learn to read the word, write the word, use the word in a sentence, draw a picture of the word and shows sentence structure as well. I’d definitely recommend this book for anyone with preschoolers!”
