Meant for very young children

This book is really meant for kids who are 5 and under. This is not meant for an elementary school age child who is struggling with reading or is showing signs of dyslexia. I tried using this with my 7 year old daughter, and it is honestly too juvenile and not helpful at all. I would recommend you try something else. There is not enough substance to this book. I enjoy the other books in this series but unfortunately I wasted my money with this one.

The Kid Loved It

My step-granddaughter has a very dysfunctional biological/custodial mom who refuses to believe that she has dyslexia and won’t get her tested. I bought this and my daughter started doing the activities with her. The girl actively asks to do the activities, and mom now drops the girl off at their place when there’s a reading or spelling quiz coming up “because she does so much better when you work with her.”

My 7 year old daughter (ADHD & dyslexic) is LOVING this book! We’ve had it for a week and she’s already on activity 21, she wants to do several each day. I hope Hannah Braun is working on a sequel for the next level, my daughters going to be so sad when we finish this!

Excellent!

This is an excellent workbook! I have had every workbook there is throughout 20 years of homeschooling. I have not been able to find anything that is good for dyslexia for my youngest that teaches and is engaging / entertaining for him. I liked it so much I looked up the author and bought her learn to read workbook and that is equally excellent. Thank you!

Book

I am an ex-teacher and Reading Specialist, now retired. I do some tutoring now and I have a little boy who has some dyslexic tendencies and difficulties with reading. I bought this book, hoping I might be able to use it with him. It has been very good. There is a lot of practice with rhyming, blending, syllables, counting words in a sentence and matching. Just what he needs. He enjoys using it because it is colorful and fun, adding little games in it. I am very happy with my purchase.

Keeps my child engaged

My son is about 30 pages into the book and looks forward to doing the lessons. He’s in kindergarten, so in addition to school he also does 2 pages of the book 3 nights a week. Being dyslexic myself, this has been an eye opener to do along with him. I can relate to his thought process and help guide him through his struggles.
There are many great aspects of the book, but my favorite part is the writing exercises for the alphabet. Each letter is demonstrated using circles and stars to show him where to place his pencil, where to draw the line, and where to end the process. He used to write all of his letters with no rhyme or reason and no particular starting or ending point.
Whenever he brings work home from school, I can clearly see what letters have been practiced in the book versus the lessons the he hasn’t done yet. It’s a remarkable improvement!
After he completes this book, I will likely order another one in hopes that the repetition of the lessons will help him build confidence and help with his poor short term memory.
This is a great book with great lessons.
