Overall, it was a pretty decent book. But it had JUST enough woke nonsense (that I honestly don’t remember in past books) that I’d get jerked out of the story bc of it. Whether it be climate catastrophizing, woman victimhood, or whining about colonialism, it was JUST annoying enough. AND it turns out he got a Mandolarian wokester to do the audio portion of the book. Please please please avoid the dark attraction of the Woke, Mr Rollins….you’re a far better author than those lazy tropes

Two story lines going at the same time. That’s ok. BUT as one story ends Rollins preaches woke climate change, and the other story has the heroes become supermen who had planned ahead every virtual event and the bad guys become stupid and inept. I don’t need to be preached to. Bad guys are bad, not stupid. It seems that the author got twisted into stories that had no logical ending and simply wanted to end the book.

I use to love James Rollins books. I started reading him when I found his book Subterranean. But this book was so full of wokeness you just couldn’t get into the story. Tucker and Kane were in the book which i was glad to see. But he decided to be cruel to them so they’d be like regular soliders. I read to escape regular life. I dont need it in my fiction books! I’m not sure I’ll ever buy another one of his books.

Huge James Rollins fan, but after 3 attempts, I gave up. Just didn’t enjoy the way the story started, where it was headed and the non Sigma characters. Better read for me was Jungle Up by Nick Pirog, in the Thomas Prescott series. This too is a story about Africa, illness and a hidden secret area.
