Kaplan MCAT 2021-2022 PROS & CONS Review

There are six subjects covered:
• Behavioural science
• Biochemistry
• Biology
• General chemistry
• Organic chemistry
• Physics and math
(I have added photos labelling the subjects section in the flashcards to give you a visual of how many flashcards are in each subject).
The flashcards are very simple and not overwhelming, this makes it super easy to memorise the material. (I added a photo of an example)
The sections throughout the flashcards are colour coded. (I presented an visual example)
The flashcards are extremely thin (same size and durability as an index card). (I also added a photo for a visual example)
My overall opinion:
I find this set simply refreshing. The material is very clear and concise, not overwhelming with too much information like many other flashcards. This is a very easy set to memorise, the structure of the cards are realistic to the exam and cover the base material necessary for these particular subjects. They cards come in a safe durable box. The durability of the cards is subpar; however, as I mentioned they do cover a suitable amount of information for these subjects which is why I will be keeping them. The thickness of the cards is equivalent to that of an index card and the material is about the same as a poker card. The material and durability isn’t horrid; however, I would prefer flashcards a bit more thicker and less flimsy. Overall I would recommend this to people because the material is so organised as well as clear and concise.

Not very impressed with these flashcards. I don’t really care about the paper they’re printed on or if they’re easy to transport, etc. What I do care about is accuracy, thoroughness, and ease of use. Some of the cards meet these expectations but waaaay too many fail miserably. Super convoluted definitions and in many cases incorrect or misleading info that requires a lot of interpretation. The psych/soc section was the worst offender for this, but it extends into the sciences as well. Why can’t they just give images of functional groups instead of describing it? Or perhaps giving the actual equations rather than describing them? “A picture is worth a thousand words” is very appropriate here. Additionally, they aren’t very thorough content-wise and miss a lot of high yield topics in all the sections. Disappointed to say the least.

I loved this for my MCAT prep, honestly used them more than the book because they were so convenient and easily re-inforced major concepts. Small but mighty. The app grants you access if you have bought the set using a verification process of a randomly chosen word from the deck. Wonderful study tool! I also got accepted into medical school, so they definitely worked for me!
