The Author

Dr. Jarvis is the author of North America’s most widely used health assessment textbook entitled Jarvis Physical Examination and Health Assessment pdf; the book is in its seventh edition and has been translated into five languages. She was a recipient of the University of Missouri’s campus-wide Superior Teaching Award, where she previously taught health assessment and critical care nursing. In faculty roles at the University of Missouri, University of Illinois, and Illinois Wesleyan University, Dr. Jarvis has taught health assessment and pathophysiology/pharmacology to baccalaureate students, graduate students, and nursing professionals, and has held over 150 continuing education seminars. Dr. Jarvis has maintained a clinical practice, first as a cardiovascular clinical specialist in various critical care settings and then as a certified family nurse practitioner in primary care. During the last five years, her interest has focused on learning Spanish to provide health care in the local community and in rural Guatemala.
