This is a book for all ages

Very well made book that is engaging for all ages. The coloring pages are designed for an older audience in my opinion. It’s not drawn with large, bubbly pictures that you would expect to see in a children’s book. I like that because it takes time to color the drawings which helps you repeat the word longer, helping you remember.

I’m learning Italian because my 3-year-old granddaughter lives in Italy & attends an Italian pre-school. I bought this to use when I see her again. — No- I’m keeping it. It has pages organized by topics (more than 50 topics) with 15-25 nouns or phrases. Each is accompanied by a sketch. As a visual learner, this is a valuable resource for me to learn new Italian words.

A little disappointing

I was excited about this, and I will still use it, but I’m a little disappointed for a few reasons.
1. There’s a non-standard pronunciation guide that is just as big as the actual word. Italian doesn’t have a lot of pronunciation exceptions, so it seems silly to include this. I also find it extremely distracting, as I can’t help but read it if I look at it. It’s also not accurate because it’s not possible to actually write phonetically correct pronunciation like that.

2. All the words are on one side and the images are on the other. That makes it harder to make a good association between the word and image while coloring, which is what I was hoping to do.

3. The English translations are also the same size as the pronunciation guide and the word. This makes my brain register them all as equally important, and they aren’t.

What I wish this was:
A coloring book of objects with the names of them in Italian directly next to the image. *No* pronunciation guides. No one in their right mind would use a coloring book as their only language learning resource and this space is not the place for teaching people the pronunciation of cane or gatto. (Especially because those are extremely self-explanatory as it is). English harder to get to. Maybe a numbered index/glossary in the back. I’m not interested in a bilingual coloring book; I’m interested in one to practice Italian.

Anyway, I guess it’s fine but it’s not going to be as effective as it could be for memorizing vocabulary. Know what you’re getting into.

It’s just plain fun!

What a wonderful method for learning new words! A non-tech, non-app method that actively involves multiple senses – perfect for visual and kinesthetic learners. Word choice and layout of the book are well conceived. I particularly like the use of scenes (for example a kitchen) to color. The overall image is easy to remember which also helps to make the individual words easy to remember. Seeing words in context, whether in a sentence, or like here, depicted in a scene, is an extremely powerful learning method. Add that it has unleashed my inner child and memories of all the coloring I loved to do as a kid? A win-win situation all around. I can’t recommend this book enough.

Excellent product for many age levels. Learning can be fun plus it’s a great way to reinforce what I already knew. Did a few pages with my seven year old nephew and he loved learning this way as well. Highly recommend

More substantial than expected 190 pages including the back pages which provide answers to the 8 quiz sections dotted through the book to test recall. Easy to use and quite relaxing. Illustrates a wide selection of every day words with a few sentences at bottom of each section to demonstrate words in use.

This is a great way to relieve the monotony of learning Italian words. Rather than just looking at a list of words and trying to memorise them, you are doing something enjoyable, and the words just seem to get into your head!

I would recommend this book to anyone who is learning the Italian language .It concentrated the mind in Itaian with names of colours and is a good dictionary as well !

It is a really well thought out book with easy learning for a beginner due to the nature of the colouring in of the book and the puzzles which make you not realise you are learning. Can’t wait to see what the next one brings.
