I recommend you listen to Dr. Goljan’s Audio first, then read his 100 pg notes to confirm conceptual understanding of his integrations. Then you can re-read the HY’s from his notes with this as the backdrop. Unless you are planning on a career in Pathology you don’t need Robbin’s. I used this and Pathoma together to ensure no missing knowledge gaps on the concepts or HY material, they work in harmony one with another. These resources are enough to get you a passing score on boards before you start reviewing FA or Uworld questions. I am keeping this book on my bookshelf the rest of my career.

Apparently this is the book of all books in medical school. After skimming through it, I can see why. I am going to have a deep relationship with this book. It is highly detailed and highly condensed with all the high yield material and more. I will be using this book along with my classes from day one of medical school. Student consult ebook is gonna be of great use as well! Thanks!

While it doesn’t cover every potential USMLE Step 1/COMLEX Level 1 topic (definitely look into Level/Step 2 material), Goljan does distill the vast majority of the covered first/second year topics into a series of no-nonsense pathological/clinical pearls. With this book (and his audio series shhhhhh… SDN it…med students, you know what I’m talking about…), First Aid, Pathoma (book and videos), micro/pharmcards (if you’re weak in those areas), and, if you’re a DO, Savarse OMT, you will be BEYOND ready for boards. Excellent Path Review, useful for step 1

Really good book for a “Review” of pathology ( a lot of detail). I used this Goljan Rapid Review in my basic sciences and now I will be definitely using it again to study for my step 1. It contains high yield photographs and margin notes which are a quick review of you need to know note. An excellent addition to my step 1 studying material. This book was recommended by one of my professors and I would not agree more.

Book is great, but I would say no more beneficial than Pathoma or any other “review” path book.

I purchased this for the “Student consult” online benefit and free 450 MCQ’s that come with it.

First, there is a new inkling.com for student consult. IT IS HORRIBLE. you cant set the text size or scroll to multiple pages, ALL figures must be clicked to load the text explaining the figures and it loads in a separate window which you have to close to continue reading. It doesn’t scroll selection to section within the chapter and you have to click it or wait for it to load. NOT user friendly at all and certainly not useful for med students trying to study.

The USMLE consultant is a joke. Goljan may have review the questions, but cerntailly not the delivery. First, it not keyed correctly. Every 10-15 questions I click a wrong answer and get it say correct and only after reading the explination I realized that clciked answer is not the actually ture / correct answer. VERY POOR! Thats just someone being lazy.

Second, the pictures are way way to small and you can see them to undertand what they are asking about.

Third, some question don’t have all the answer choices (like only choice a and b show up but c – e are not there) again, this is just laziness.

Finally, some qualitative material is just wrong. I can’t explain it. It’s just flat wrong. I check uworld, UpToDate, Robins Path and all three said one thing and this says something totally different.

Very frustrating.

I am in love with this book. So much info and I really like how the author highlights important facts in the margin. I feel the information is comprehensive when I compare it to some of my other study tools. I highly recommend.

the best, I cannot speak to step 1 prep because I am a first year. but every time I learn anything I go to this book to review and make sure that I have a complete picture of what is going on. I use it as a framework for learning about different diseases and then use other more complete resources like harrison’s and robbins to fill in the blanks. I do not doubt that this is one of the single most complete and concise step1 prep tools.
