Joseph LoCicero
He was born in Chicago and raised in Southeast Louisiana, his family’s home. Before college, he spent several years in the seminary. He obtained his college degrees in Engineering and Medicine from Tulane University. After his internship, he spent two years in the U.S. Army as director of Medical Services in Savannah, GA.
Following discharge from the military, he completed his surgical training at Tulane and Northwestern Universities and was a faculty member at several institutions and hospitals including Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and Harvard Medical School. He also served as chairman of Surgery at the Chicago Medical School (now the Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science) and the University of South Alabama.
During his career, he was an active scientific investigator with over a hundred journal publications and several books on thoracic diseases as well as surgical problems of the elderly.
Currently, he lives in Mobile, Alabama with his wife of many years and writes creative fiction on a variety of topics including history, medicine, surgery, education, problems of the elderly, and on life lessons.
