Areej Hassan, MD, MPH, is an attending in the Division of Adolescent/Young Adult Medicine at Boston Children’s Hospital and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School. She completed her residency training in Pediatrics at Brown University before her fellowship at BCH. In addition to primary care, Dr.Hassan focuses her clinical interests on reproductive endocrinology and global health. She also maintains an active role in medical education and has particular interest in building and developing innovative teaching tools through open educational resources. She currently teaches, consults, and is involved in pediatric and adolescent curricula development at multiple sites abroad in Central America and Southeast Asia.

Beneficial during women’s health rotation.

This book is extremely helpful for reviewing current guidelines and for specific system reviews. I used it during my women’s health rotation as a supplement and substitute for some the required text readings, as their was too much material to review and it was difficult to retain that much information. This book presents information based by systems and it is laid out in a format that is easy to review. The questions at the end of the sections allow for evaluated of information retention and serves as a good indicator of areas that require additional review. I definitely feel that this book contributed to my success in the clinical and didactic portions of my women’s health course.

Great book for studying

I like this book. There are great questions in case study format. When posting reviews about “errors” in the book, please let us know what they are. For some things I can see why someone might have a different answer, but which is correct? So far I haven’t found any errors, but I am only 1/4 way through the book.
I like the bulleted features of the chapters with review questions at the end. This makes it a great book to study from.

The only study book you’ll need

If I could only buy one book in order to study for the AMCB certification exam, it would be this one. In fact it was the only study that I did buy! Using this book in conjunction with my textbooks from my program left me more than adequately prepared. I do wish that the CD had more questions that were different than the book, but overall it was a great resource. I even saw a couple of the practice questions from the book I my exam!

Great resource. Used this alone to study for boards and did great. I love that there are lessons and then questions to help review. I used other study sources and this was the only one worth the money.

Several typos and answer key mix ups (letter doesn’t match description) found that was frustrating. Solid content, helpful and concise with good review questions but needs an editor with a more keen eye and attention to detail! Overall, I would still recommend.
