Incredible that you have to pay $11.99 extra to read on kindle paperwhite!

Turns out that the kindle paperwhite subscription only works on that device. So, if you purchase a subscription online, or on an iPhone or iPad or Kindle Fire tablet, you can read the content on all of them for one monthly fee. But if you have a kindle paperwhite, you have to pay an additional $11.99 per month. On top of that, you don’t get all of the content.
Puh-lease!

Device Choices Disappointing

I lived in the Washington DC area for 30+ years and the Washington Post was a big part of my life. I have no problem with the WP Kindle version. I would have given it a higher rating for the content. My issue was that it could be downloaded only to my phone. Ever read a “meaty” newspaper on a phone? It’s an arduous task. When I subscribed I thought it would download to my Kindle for PC so I could read it on my Microsoft Surface Pro. I would suggest that it be made available for Kindle PC. I would sign up again in a heartbeat!

The Kindle version is missing many, many articles, that you will find in the Fire Table/App version and/or on the WP’s website.
Having recently bought a new PaperWhite Kindle, I thought I’d try this edition as it does come daily and is easy enough to use…. (And there is a free trial… So you can see for yourself) But I was very disappointed that for the 3 daily editions that I’ve looked at, the Business section was missing completely and the Editorials are incomplete…. As well as many other stories missing…. You’d think just the opposite should be true with any “e” edition of a major newspaper … Should be easy enough to just include EVERYTHING that is in the daily paper. But NO, simply not there, missing, missing, missing!
In contrast the Calibre software running on WIndows or Linux “scrapes” many more articles and it’s FREE, so that’s what I’m using and enjoying to read both the WP and the NYTimes on the Paperwhite.
DO NOT PAY FOR THIS STRIPPED DOWN version of the great Washington Post. You will not get all the news that they do publish.

I absolutely love The Washington Post although I wish it were a bit cheaper. However, I trust this paper to give me accurate, factual news I can rely on. The articles are collectively depressing by the end of the week, but I attribute that to the dysfunctional climate in Washington. Thank you editors, reporters, and the entire staff of the paper for all you do.
Democracy WILL die in darkness so I’m glad you provide the light.

What I enjoy most about receiving the Washington Post for Kindle is that I can “read the paper” at breakfast while MSNBC is interviewing the reporters whose articles are appearing in the Post that morning.. I often find the Post too large for the time I have to devote to reading it. I’ve been neglecting my personal rreading because it takes me so long to get through all the wonederful articles in the Post. I’d like it to be “audible.”

WHEN I HEAR THE WASHINGTON POST WEOTE TO DAY… I go to my PC OR kindle to read more. I DISLIKE THAT I CAN NOT SENT MY HUSBAND THE WASHINGTON POST FROM MY E-MAIL TO HIS. HE SPREAD WP NEWS TO OTHER PEOPLE IN MISSISSIPPI , EVEN IF THEIR ONLY SOURCE OF NEWS IS FOX NEWS. HE WRITE ARTICLE TO NEWSPAPERS & THEY PRINT HIS STORY WHY THEY NEED TO READ ARTICLES IN “THE WP, THE NY. THE ECONOMIST & OTHERS .
