The Writers

Dr. Fisch is a board certified neurologist who teaches neuroanatomy to medical students, residents, and fellows at Washington University in St. Louis and the Indiana University School of Medicine. He received his undergraduate degree in English from the University of Pennsylvania, his medical degree
from the Indiana University School of Medicine, and did his neurology residency training at Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. Fisch’s mentor in neuroanatomy, the late William DeMyer, MD, from the Indiana University School of Medicine, strongly believed: if you can’t draw it, you don’t know it.

Great reference for practicing docs, med students, and residents.

Clearly written with lots of useful information. Actually drawing the relevant neuroanatomy really reinforces the learning process.

I wish I had this book when I was a medical student!

Not ideal for med school
May 27, 2014

It could just be that the neuro department at my med school is whacko, but this book didn’t come close to the detail we were expected to know. I would say, this is great for people who want a gentle intro to neuroanatomy, but probably not sufficient for med school use. However, I will say that the drawings and explanations were very clear and concise, easy to understand and follow, just not to the detail required to satisfy the PhD hounds I am forced to answer to.

Neuroanatomy made easy !
January 3, 2012

Neuroanatomy, a supposedly nightmare for even medical students, was made easier in this book by Dr. Fisch. This is a kind of workbook which makes you draw the complex neuroanatomical structures alongside learning about them with relative ease. I felt this kind of learning lasts longer than the conventional ones. Overall, a very good book.

Advanced neuro book

came with a “used” label and arrived BRAND NEW. and ON TIME. This is for nursing school, PT/OT school anatomy level. NOT A BASIC LEVEL BOOK. Perfect for me 🙂 Probably good for med students but I’m not 100% sure..

Great for those who need to draw
December 7, 2010

This book was wonderful! I am a person who learns by writing/drawing to learn and understand the concepts. The author was really thinking about the entry-level neuro student when he put this book together. It helped me to draw connections to the systems in the brain, and I still remember a lot of the material when I took the class a year ago.

My one critique is that I wish there was more on the embryology of the brain.

It meets it

This is great material for self-study. Replicating diagrams not only helps one remember the anatomy but allows for note taking as well that reinforce its concepts. Its a fun and creative way to learn about neuroanatomy and it clears up the interchangeable terminology. Im not a med student but I do think that this will be a great tool for learning for such students as well.
